They are probably hoping RNR becomes an actual hit. (Duh)

Releasing in September would only give RNR about a month to gain momentum and get people interested in the album. It wouldn't be enough time. Avril hasn't done anything noteworthy chart-wise since Girlfriend so...I'd say the delay was a smart move.
