Of course sister. After I post my rankings!
Neko Case - I Wish I Was the Moon - No contest for my number one, as no one in popular music has a voice - lyrically or literally - quite like Neko Case. Not even my favorite track on the album, but just stunning. 9
Paramore - Still Into You - In a perfect world, and in another week, my sure fire nine pointer, as it's fantastic. The alternapop version of Countdown; who knew commitment could sound so enticing? The first really good Paramore song to be set fully in the secular world, Hayley & Co find their inner Blondie and let love rule. 8
Rilo Kiley - Portions for Foxes - Hard to believe this song is a decade old; it sounds as fresh as it did in 2004. If Carrie Underwood had balls/ovaries, she'd release a song like this, full of fire and regret and everything else ugly and unsettled about modern romance.
And to one of you guys - "we're all just/portions for foxes" sums up the human condition. We're essentially slaves to our own desires, and we're all being undone by our choices. We're all in it together though, a point Jenny Lewis really gets across. 7
2NE1 - I Love You - I really was not expecting this to be this high, but VW doesn't need the help - and this is a solid BOP. Let me find out! 6
Vampire Weekend - Giving Up the Gun - Class issues done with class and restraint. The dual harmonies of Ezra and Rostam will never not be amazing. 5
Charli XCX - What I Like - Thanks Michael for making me listen to this album! Nothing's as good as You're the One (and that includes this song), but I am thoroughly enjoying it. The last vocodered smoking is like a moment, isn't it? 4
Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built - Not as good as I remembered, but tell them to go to hell is everything the It Gets Better campaign needed. 3
Sleigh Bells - Crown on the Ground - It's really lonely here in the "I prefer Sleigh Bells when they turn it down" camp. 2
The Killers - Mr. Brightside 1
