In the end, neither Grammys nor #1 singles really matter all that much, but the artist with 18 Grammys is more likely to be remembered in the long run.
I mean, pop success usually doesn't last. It takes a lot for a pop song to endure several years after its run, and 90% of the time it'll just vanish right into the ether, never to be seen again.
Look at an edition of the Billboard Hot 100 from, say, the 70s and I guarantee you'll see a TON of artists you've never heard of. Hell, look back less than a decade and you'll probably find a load of songs that nobody checks for anymore. I mean... Do I Make You Proud? Laffy Taffy? Shake Ya Tailfeather? A Moment Like This? Does ANYONE remember those songs?

Billboard can statistically state that Beyonce has 5 #1s, but like I said... she will continue to be honored for having NINE #1s from people like.... BILLBOARD.

What do 18 Grammy's do though? You can win 18 Grammy's in Electronic/Dance and **** like Classical and not a single human will know you.
A #1 PERIOD, IS SOMETHING.

Yes, every time Paul McCartney is tributed, he will be tributed for his solo work as well as his work with The Beatles.

This question is confusing though. It depends on who you are and your values as an artist.

Top 5 Grammy Winners:
1st 31 Sir Georg Solti
2nd 27 Quincy Jones, Alison Krauss
3rd 26 Pierre Boulez
4th 25 Vladimir Horowitz
How many of those 5 are known and what impact have they made together?
Top 5 #1's:
The Beatles (20)
Mariah Carey (18)
Elvis Presley (17) (Pre-Hot 100 charts and Hot 100)
Michael Jackson (13)
Madonna (12) tie
How many of those 5 are known, and what impact have they made together?
My point exactly.

Erm... this one? For every pop hit that stands the test of time, there are DOZENS that get swept into the dustbin of history.
Am I wrong? Do me a favor and tell me if you've ever heard of Herman's Hermits, the Silver Convention, Andy Gibb, the Starland Vocal Band, Gregory Abbott, Snow, All-4-One or Murphy Lee.

The funny thing is though, ya'll only like to use people from band's records if they're the star of the band or relevant.
Ya'll will be quick to say Beyonce has 9 #1's, but won't ever say Michelle has 4 #1's.
Just like ya'll would try to add Michael's success from Jackson 5 but none of the other irrelevant members get the same. Same w/ every other band.

Michelle technically does have 4 #1s but nobody's online arguing with anyone for her to say that.

I don't stan for Michelle, so that never came out my mouth. I stan for Beyonce, and Beyonce has 9 #1's. It also helps that she was a songwriter on ALL of the 9 #1s. So STATISTICALLY, she still has 9 #1s as a songwriter.
Michelle technically only has 2 #1's since she had no say in "Bills Bills Bills" or "Say My Name" as a songwriter or a vocalist.
