It's not a career killer. What happened to Janet was a total accident and Madonna's single wasn't good.

Beyonce will do just fine and if her song is out by then, it will shoot up the iTunes chart.

You're acting as if Madonna had not been a touring force before the SB. Didn't her Sticky & Sweet gross like +400 million? Much better than the MDNA tour so I'm not sure she gained that much from her halftime.

It won't kill her career if everything goes right. Even if something happens, the USA seems to be a lot more laid-back nowadays than in 2004, plus she has the support of the president.

If Beyonce's single(s) are good she'll do well as she's only been struggling for 4 years or so to get a hit. It's a long time but it isn't that long, it can be considered a slump especially if she climbs out of it. If the single(s) are not that good, she'll get a SB bump anyways.

Say the next album and singles aren't big hits, you can't blame the SB for that. The slump started several years ago.

Madonna was having crappy luck in the U.S. since American Life + her poorly selling album has sold as much or more than a lot of the "relevants" albums. She has a 300 million dollar tour with 88 shows - who else? In America this was her most attended tour ever. Got a top 10 on the Hot 100. Got about 3-4 more #1's on the Dance Chart. She's been in the industry 30 years, she's not going to start charting like a 25-year old no matter what.

Prince hadn't been relevant since the early 1990s. Can't blame the SB for his problems.

Paul, The Rolling Stones - 1970s? Doesn't make them any less of legends.

Janet Jackson and Madonna's careers were dead in the water already.

NOT like Beyonce.

Her last album was supported by ZERO smash hits, and yet it sold an amount of CD's and DVD's that today's smash hit makers can only dream of, and she made 100$ million in the last 3 years alone.

Beyonce's career is anything but DEAD.
