Today in the youtube age you would think someone with great performance skills would get honoured with exceptional sales hence ADELE.
I'm aware that Nostalgia Ultra had a good reception (the same like Video Games), but not that much from the general music business.(come on, his gay confession was a great publicity stunt, nothing against it, Madonna was the master of it, it's pop after all)
I bet many live performances of Lana are much more thumb ups and more viewed than Frank O.(maybe in the same ratio like the sales WW?)
I'm aware that Frank O. is a good singer, vulnerable, shy.sometimes insecure, not every tone is pitch perfect he is not an giant singer like ADELE, but need he? no It's very lively, with lots of feelings, but like I described Frank O. before, I could say the same about Lana and she takes the p'iss, (I'm old enough to know the first album of Liz Phair in the beginning of the 90's, it's all over again), mostly from american posters or american music critics. I don't expect much from ATRL posters. But I expect much more from music journalists (But what can we expect from music journalist in the internet age of today? 'till today there is an Album review of 21 at NME who named 21 a nice album but with a little too much use of auto-tune...oh, well.)
But I'm also aware that Lana performance at SNL was just awful.
I think my post ist much more balanced than this mod that I'm first responded to but each to his own.
