The main difference between the two eras is that Britney was literally QUEEN OF THE WORLD. Their was no competition, nobody could stop Britney. Their was no other huge tour or album. She was on top of everyone. She was THE popstar. The other girls were fighting to be like her. And the thing about Britney is, she appeals to a major audience. If you look at the audience in her tour dvds, you have men, women, children, blacks [well, maybe not a lot of them], whites, people of all ages and sizes, straight, bi and gay. BTWB has more of the straight girls and gay guys. All in the younger adult department. Britney had the appeal to everyone. Gaga has the appeal for the [some, I don't want to say weird, but...] girls and gays.

BTW era on the other hand has some competition. MDNA era. These are the two huge tours. MDNA tour makes up for the underperforming singles. And it's not Madonna's fault radio won't play her. Gaga appeals to monsters. The general public isn't really here for her this era, like they were last era.

To be honest, Toxic is biggest hit from ITZ, but it didn't outsell Born This way which is biggest hit from BTW album. Anyway, Toxic's impact was bigger Born this way's impact.

The Onxy Hotel tour was canceled due to an accident, plus its really unfair to compare a Stadium tour too an Arena tour.

In The Zone was released in 2003 during the fourth quarter, Born This Way in 2011 near summer.
There's no way Britney's tour would have outperformed Gaga's even if it had regularly gone on. Gaga is playing stadiums around the world and ammassing more than 2 million dollars per show.
