There is potential there and her label does realize that, apparently. And let's not even with the image and style. Rita's been that way since like forever, and we've got footage, pictures, videos, etc. from 2009 to back this up. If anything, Rihanna's recent style is inspired by Rita. And then again, Rita is inspired by Gwen.
If people are going to write her off already, then fine, that's your loss. I mean, did Pon de Replay and If It's Lovin' That You Want get everybody hooked on Rihanna? No. Some people have huge debuts (Gaga, Britney, Mariah) while others need some time before they achieve success (Rihanna, Adele, Destiny's Child).
I do agree that Rita's not living up to the hype just yet, but let's not pretend that half of TTT is any better than what Rita's been serving

True, some do take a little longer to get that foundation. But the general public could care less about Rihanna copying Rita. They know Rihanna regardless. Rita has potential, but I think it needs to be tapped into in more creative ways. And not just Rita, but many of these new artists --- Azealia, Iggy, Porcelain, Marina, etc. If they are to ever reach the success levels of Beyonce, Mariah, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney, that is.

I agree with this. She needs material which sets her apart from the rest.

She hasn't given anyone the reason to NOT sell her short, so.

I mean this is always how it starts, they hate and Hate and HATE until the girl blows.
Rita already has 2 no.1 singles without an album released.

But a rejected song isn't Rihanna material. That's why she rejected them. Btw, i don't talk about Rita's song so stay away from the report button.

It kinda is imo, if a song was made for Rihanna, it's pretty much Rih material, but it was rejected/not used by her so someone other got to record it. One of her biggest hits are a reject, so I don't see what's that bad with it if the artist makes it work...Something Rita clearly does with her so called "rejects".

Splitting hairs, I see. This is not what we're discussing. Let's get back to how pressed some Navettes are on Rita

You have to be delusional to think Roc The Life was written for Rihanna, considering what it's talking about, fact that Rita co-wrote it aside
Rihanna singing how she discovers the fame and wants to be up there with the stars when she's 6 albums deep into her career?
