But I'd also like to point out that Katy has done much more in 2 albums than Rihanna did. Katy already has an Echo Award and a Brit award (German/British grammy's).
The industry is really ****ed up if they respect this joke more than Katy. /Thread
They respect Whitney, Tina, Eminem, etc who all have known incidents with domestic violence. Or maybe they respect her for the fact that Rihanna doesn't give a damn what you or anyone has to say.
Tina endured Ike for a while. She may not have recorded a song with him, but is she just as much as a joke for staying in an abusive relationship? Eminem makes constant references about his past in his music. Whitney's mess of a relationship was very public for years. They may have lost respect for her as a person and it was clear she was troubled, but they still respected her as an artist.

But I like them both
Rihanna accomplished much in her first 4 years as well. You shouldn't look at how many albums they have released, but years in the game. And Rihanna has only been here for three more years then Katy.
Katy then. She's actually known as as a songwriter and a musician. She was awarded for her California Dreams Tour in US (People's Choice favourite headliner) and Europe (MTV EMA best live act). The fact her album sells the way it sells after two years means her music isn't as disposable as some try to impute.
She's known for being silly but not for being ****ty so she gets more personal recognition from people. She also isn't afraid to admit that role model thing comes with the fame, unlike the other one
I actually didn't agree with the stupid remix, but it took a lot of balls to record a song with your abusive ex going against what everyone expected you to do, your label, and what would've been "morally right". Maybe people respect her for that idea alone.

Why, bacause it's convenient for Rihanna? It's not Katy's fault she was actually able to tour around the world with her first two albums
Katy is on her second album, so at this point she wins.
Rihanna on her second album was still non existent whereas Katy has more than splashed on the scene.
interesting because I was watching this show called Popped, on Fuse, and one episode was focused on Rihanna and it talked about how hard she worked to be not classified as a one hit wonder and how determined she was to become a international star

Dont compare Rihanna to Tina Turner sweetie, she did NOT go back to him, he dragged her back kicking and screaming after her various attempts to escape his rage. Not only that, but they had children in the situation who she did not want hurt because of their actions, she left Ike and NEVER went back when she finally got away, she didnt even attend the funeral.
I'm not a Katycat. I'm just here for quality and class.
And I couldnt care less about Metacritic. Crititcs dont pay your rent. It's all about GP in the end who made TD album #1 unlike Rihanna's albums.
I mean when will Rihanna have 4 consistent top 10 hits from one album, let alone 5 #1s..
Rihanna doesn't have a number one album but Loud still clocked TD not only in first week sales but also WW sales overall. Guess Number One albums don't "pay your rent".
Rihanna has over 20 top ten hits and 11 #1's. They aren't from one album, but from all of six of them which solidifies that Rihanna isn't some bitch waiting for her 15 minutes to run out.
