This thread had 2 specific options though. If we wanted to do talk about what made Dance-Pop popular in general than thats a completely different thread.
I said what brought it back to chart relevance seeing as 2008 was ruled by HipHop/R&B.
I've no words on the first set of sentences. And 2008 certainly wasn't "ruled" by Hip-Hop and R&B. There are easier thread topics to make where Gaga would be the clear, smart winner, but this is not one.
You certainly didn't show it well. In any case, dance-pop had come back hard WAY before either of the two songs listed. Madonna, Robbie Williams, and quite a few other notable stars were already doing it and slaying. Just Dance was just another generic release. And it certainly wasn't in 2010 with Tik Tok, despite all it's success.
And as for IKAG being dance-pop...
I'm completely aware of Hung Up's/Madonnas influence on dance pop plus Hung Ups world-wide success. To be fair, I wasn't specific w/ the OP in terms of when exactly I'm referring to.
But if you've ever seen me post here, I always downplay Madonna as a joke. But then again no one knows me.
The difference being that Lady Gaga was a nobody, therefore nobody cared about her. P!nk's massive, therefore some people would have bought the song just for her without even hearing it.
Lady Gaga was the reason Born this Way was a successful song, but she wasn't the reason Just Dance or Poker Face were. (Production-wise, I'll give her lyrics and performances and the like.)
(Bolded before someone misreads and reports me. )
Haven't voted since I Kissed a Girl isn't a dance song, and Tik Tok came out after Just Dance so it's stupid to vote it.
1.) RedOne wasn't a known-by-name producer for the most part before Bad Romance. Dr. Luke has an undeniable name attached to each of his songs seeing as he's been making pop hits for years.
2.) I still wouldnt say Just Dance and Poker Face are RedOne's songs in the same way I'd say Tik Tok is Dr. Lukes song.
ATRL always forgets The Black Eyed Peas pretty much catapulted this trend at the same time in 2009 as GaGa. Boom Boom Pow & I Gotta Feeling were the biggest hits of that year.
Gaga is the one who's behind the creative process + telling him how the **** she wants it So she is really the one behind the beats. He just made them for her.
