As a record label exec(Intersccpe?), why would I want to continue supporting an artist if she/he is giving me the impression shes okay with not pulling her weight?

She's trying to say that being able to sing/amazing vocals is just One part of being an artist. It isn't her main focus, her whole music ( lyrics, production) are more important to her.

No. As a singer, being able to sing is far from a luxury.

You'd think that she'd already be able to sing considering she booked SNL without even having an album out, but now to dismiss all the criticism because singing isn't a priority for her is mind-boggling.

Her attitude about her career is embarrassing. There is a difference between being talented and humble and being vacant and passionless. In this interview she comes off as the latter.

What is she even implying? i am finding her so confusing,messy in all of her interviews and ****. She CLEARLY doesn't have much passion for what she is doing. Sad people like me thought she was a great indie artist,but now everyday she is walking a thin line where either side she falls into the norm of manufactured artist who has a great label behind them.

i honestly hope she figures out that being like this isn't the best. i hope her team makes her say stuff that makes sense.

true artists do their own thing. do you think picasso was originally celebrated for his extremely abstract art? no... but did he stop doing things his way? no.

based on some of the other things she's said, i think what lana means is she sings because she's passionate about it. she wants her music to be experienced, but she doesn't care if it makes her rich and famous or not because that's not why she's doing it.

she didn't expect video games to blow up like it did and she's happy about that for sure, but her main concern with this album was that it would represent her vision for it, not that it would go on to be the best-selling album of 2012. she has a lot of other things she's passionate about in life in addition to music (like volunteer work).

so why are we knocking her for seeing her current musical opportunity as a "blessing?" would we rather she be fame-starved and desperate?

her words are being taken out of context. she didn't say it wasn't important. she actually said being on snl was an honor. she admitted to feeling a bit awkward performing on the show because she's used to a completely different type of venue, but she didn't ever say it wasn't important.
