The album threads rule makes perfect sense. Open the thread when the album is near release since activity from the artist is heightened for the entire forum can discuss - instead of just the stans in the Base thread (keeping all hype and discussion prior to release in the Base thread).
All the initial promotion, sales performance, etc. happen in those weeks anyway, before the threads turn back into sexual innuendo/"i'm bored" posts/random topics/rank your favorite albums, etc.

Can I make a request then? Can Base threads show up in the top "Recent Activity" box thing? That way stans know when their fave is being discussed.
I used to see the Born This Way thread up in the box and know there was a discussion about my fave going on. If everything about them is restricted to Base, and Base threads don't show in Recent Activity, how will people know if there's a lively discussion?

But some eras last up to two years -- you're just going off the Femme Fatale album thread.

Music News should just be for music news -- Dev confirms Ke$ha Collab. Lady GaGa announces new album.
Then a third new forum needs to be added for all those "Britney Loves Her Fans", "Beyonce stans are the dumbest", "Is Britney or GaGa"more respected" type threads. They're cluttering base and pushing down the artist threads. |

If album threads were still allowed, you wouldn't have to go through all of them? And if you really want to know about an artist's album, you wouldn't mind visiting their Base thread.

This will also lead to a lot more singles threads being opened. Some artists have a lot of singles out. So each single should be discussed individually instead of in one album thread?

I agree with Lem. All the ex-music Lounge related threads and polls are clogging up Base. Base should just have the artist threads.
This is just going to create MORE threads everywhere

No, you'd see the list of current album threads and know what's released and what's on the horizon. Now if Rihanna has a new album a month and a half away, you wouldn't know it unless you visit her Base. Whereas before, there would've been multiple threads leading up to it.

Pretty much every album thread got like that. Even more so if the album era is lasting that long, because the activity from the artist isn't always going to be as interesting and enough to warrant consistent discussion about it in a thread for the album. Hence, going to Base for the miscellaneous discussion/when something new does happen.

I think I understand the concept here, but it does seem to be confusing. I feel like it's making ATRL more spaced out, which could be a bad thing or good thing.
