Kim had her time and racked up a few accomplishments, but the way she's acting now, she may as well just "hang it up, flatscreen." The only thing anchoring her to relevancy, ironically, is Nicki Minaj. If Kim wasn't dissing Nicki, no one would even notice her.

I mean, when you make bubble gum pop songs that are targeted towards gay men and teenaged white girls, I wouldn't be surprised that she would do better on the charts. Lil Kim actually was a RAPPER, not trying to sell out.
Kim IS the blueprint of female rap, PERIOD. and until Nicki makes a classic like HArdcore, makes a classic song like quiet storm, Kim will always be superior.
Pink Friday was forgetable, the singles were forgetable, and it was just a generic mess.

Nicki Minaj is a popstar.
She doesn't give a **** about being ghetto. Lil Kim can have that market share to herself. The issue comes from Lil Kim being jealous of the fact Nicki Minaj changed herself ever so slightly, and is now a huge crossover artist, whilst she became irrelevant to popular culture.

Hardcore Notorious K.I.M and La Bella Mafia is better than anything Nicki has put out so far. I'm tired of these people bashing Lil' Kim like she was never anything. Makes me embarrassed to be 16 sometimes lol If ur a real fan of rap music u will know Lil' Kim is a ****in beast. I just heard some1 in my hood blasting her song. She made classics. She was the blue-print. The perfect combo of street and sexy. She did what Salt n Pepa started and took it to a whole new level. Like BET has been saying in these commercials, she IS the "Original Queen."
It doesn't matter what Nicki has done in one year that Lil' Kim hasn't done yet. One thing Nicki still doesn't have is far better than sales are records, she doesn't have the RESPECT yet. Sadly, people still see her as a silly joke with a fat ass. Idk how many times I've heard people I know say "I'm tired of Nicki she annoying" or "this bitch can't serious" and also "she's a joke." Lil' Kim has gained respect from the rap community. People may not approve of how she handled the Nicki beef, but it didn't falter her respect. Everyone knows Lil' Kim will always be one of the greats. Do y'all know how big it was when she was going to jail. EVERYBODY supported her for not snitching and remaining loyal. That put her respect up like 100x.
Don't get me wrong I like Nicki and I'm anticipating her new album just as much as the next person. I've followed her since the days in Queens when she was a nobody. I'm rooting for her, but I'm tired of her fans hating Kim just because she doesn't like ur fave. She has never put out a bad album. Saying the same **** like "she doesn't write her own music" or "look at her face" is redundant and invalid. It has already been proven that she writes her own stuff, and even at one time she would beg Biggie to help her but he refused and instilled good work ethic in her.

That's your opinion, and should be expressed as such. Don't go off on a rant about being a fan of "real rap music" it makes you sound so pretentious. Kim was from a classic era of hip-hop music, but that shouldn't automatically mean Kim > Nicki. There are no standards, you prefer Kim others will prefer Nicki there are no facts and no one should be convinced otherwise. Many bash Kim yes, but just as many bash Nicki.

Kim always talks about opening the door for the other females BUT she forgets that the same door she "opened" for the other girls is the same one she tries to slam in their faces whenever they get somewhat more successful than her (Check: Nicki, Eve, Remy & Foxy beefs)
I dont blame Nicki for dragging Kim. Kim is all talk while Nicki is actually making moves. Kim has been "black barbie" forever yet Mattel never rung her phone not even once! Kim was "Black Madonna" but who's on the Queens new single? I remember Kim talking about wanting to work with Trey Songz & Rihanna last year. Low and behold who ended up on a MONSTER Trey Songz hit? Who did RiRi make her play lesbian lover?
So my vote goes to Nicki. She single handedly made people interested in female rap again.

Kim was never the black madonna...she just thought she was.
Kim had the overt sexuality and the lack of good looks similar to Madonna but Madonna had creativity, versatility, longevity and the ability to change the game.
Why ppl forget about Missy when she has had more success then Kim and is the most successful female solo artist yet. Kim did have a bigger movement but Idg why ppl forget Missy.
If Missy and Kim were merged that would be the hip hop madonna.

Hardcore is a better hip hop album than Pink Friday is.. But as an overall artist, I like Nicki more.
But Hardcore...  its rap perfection. I doubt Nicki could ever make an album that could stand next to it...
That being said, Pink Friday was probably my favorite record of '10...
