Promo is something extra you do to push your product.
e.g. Interviews, specials, performances, etc.
Twitter is not a promo. Her fans were the one trending it, it's not promo.
Everyone does music videos, we can eliminate this as promo.
Same with radio.
And touring is something you do to collect cash, you don't technically promote your album with it.
|
Music videos send songs flying up iTunes, even if it's just 5 spots or so, this is a fact. You should know that since I Wanna Go got boosted thanx to the video.
And are you seriously sitting here saying that airplay isn't promo?
A World Tour not promoting? Why else would they do it?
She tweeted her fans the album name and the album cover, that is promotion!

I am forgetting 4's promotional tour in Europe, and Glastonbury. X Factor France, Piers Morgan. This is worldwide promo, her worldwide sales should be bigger. Music videos are promotion too, but don't act like Bey just went fishing while 4 underperformed. The videos weren't her only promotion.

I think this board has pretty much covered and dragged Rihanna enough.

I never liked it either. It grew on me in July after
playing the album numerous times during that month.
The song may "suck" to y'all but when she gets on a stage and PERFORMS it...

I'd say it more underperformed rather flopped. Though, I really wish it had hit 1M before topping out at 700K, if that.

I still remember when HIAM was free-falling and instead of promoting it, her lazy ass went fishing, AFTER a whole year off.
|
Well she did perform it on Jimmy Kimmel, Good Morning America, and the Femme Fatale Tour all over the planet.

Even with the immense worldwide promo, if the sound of the singles don't catch on with the general public in whatever country, all of the promo doesn't really matter, in the end.

I am not one of the Beyonce stans who says that. You guys severely over exaggerate how much promo she did and she has barely done any promo for the past 4 months.

Three or four years, it's still a hell of a rise to the top in a short duration of time.

Britney making an appearance is RARE, so when she does it you better believe its because she has an album out, how can you be a "stan" and not know this?
And yes, airplay is promotion, the third biggest kind actually, only a fool would think otherwise.

One flop album that has to promote itself at this point doesn't define her whole career. Plus I find that it's always the Britney stans that try to drag Bey down the most simply cause their fave appears to be winding down with her career.
The gurls need to get it together and understand that an electro/pop dance album by Bey this era following such a successful era as I Am... Sasha Fierce could have blown through the roof. It's the MUSIC people don't like, not Beyonce. Now Beyonce's challenge is to try to find a happy medium between her musical integrity and the public demand. That's it. HER CAREER IS NAWT OVER.
I put that as respectful as I could and I'll be damned if I get a warning point for "flaimbait".

I still won't accept the term ''flopped hard'' for ''4'' because it does actually very well for an album that had not one single hit song. I mean it's already over 2M sold WW, 1M in the US sold. Without a single hit. How is that a flop? That's actually pretty good imo. And I don't think that it's the music people don't like. I mean Party was a big hit on Urban stations, Love On Top is a big hit on AC Urban stations. It's just that the promotion is not handled well. If Run The World (Girls) didn't leak or if she released another first single and if Beyoncι wasn't pregnant, the album would be a hit.

I agree, but you can't say you flopped with no promotion. Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America, BET and Billboard Awards. T in the Park and Oxegen Festival The View, Jimmy Fallon, MTV VMAs, with pregnancy craze. AND music videos.

She performed Run The World on Oprah, and 1+1 on American Idol, both before '4' was even released. It's not like she put on a concert of various new songs like Britney did on Good Morning America & Jimmy Kimmel.
