That's because people have to also dedicate a specific hour or so for the downloads too. Itunes updates by the hour and by how many people have bought it that hour. So in order for the song to see a significant jump it would have to be organized pretty well. This is why daytime shows like Ellen don't do so much in the U.S as far as itunes go.
