Don't worry, Alicia & Monica will get things back on track soon!

Yes anything different than dance flops. (ie. Who Run the World) although It was an okay song, but the fact that it wasn't a clone of everything else made it flop.
Same with Judas and Hold It Against Me.

And their sales have been pretty good, and well thought of! I feel like when these artists have been going ahead and doing their genre without catering to the dance trend...they do even better than their counterparts who ARE trying to do it. I am hoping record labels are taking note of this and we will watch this mess change over the next year or so. Radio needs to get it together too

"Judas" and "Hold It Against Me" are dance songs. They are just bad/mediocre dance songs.

|
Only pop songs i've heard on urban radio areTelephone, E.T(Remix), and TTWE(Remix)
But i'm pretty sure that's because of the fact that Beyonce, Kanye, & Nicki Minaj are featured artist on those songs.

But they were a bit different than the norm. To be honest, Beyonce was the most experimental.
I actually liked it after a few listens, but I guess the public likes generic messes.

Ch, I'm talking about the mainstream gerls who be banwagoning other sounds to try and **** on the gerls, not the ones who makes the kind of music they love. Fanny & Jennifer doing Redone tracks.

Yes, you get your "Rolling in the Deep," "Hey, Soul Sister," "Need You Now," etc. here and there, but for the most part, it's dominated by dance-pop or whatever sub-genre that becomes popular at a given time. In the 90s and decades before, you would hear Ace of Base, Whitney Houston, TLC, Nirvana and Sheryl Crow all being played on pop radio at the same time. You don't get that much diversity on mainstream radio anymore.

Wow. Reading that makes the current situation look even more ******.

In reality "REAL" R&B died in the 80s.

They don't play any of those songs on the urban stations here. The only one I can see getting airplay is "E.T." because it has a hard beat.
Sporadically, you might get a "Hollaback Girl," "Promiscuous," "Sexyback," etc. on Urban.

No ma'am. "No One Gonna Love You", "I Remember Me", "Don't Look Down", and "Where U At" slay the rest of the tracks on that album.

They don't play them regular rotation, but I have heard them every now and then.
But, back in 06/07 I do remember those songs you listed getting heavy rotation on radio especieall "Promiscuous".

oh this whole trend has been going on since 2003 - 2008. That's when rap/hippop/urban ruled the radio. Then a new trend comes (dancepop) and stays for a while. Then something else comes along. Itll repeat for a long time. But for y'all saying saying how much more diverse stations were in the 90's also have to keep in mind all genres panels were way way WAY bigger then they are now. Radio will probably remain like it is for years to come sadly.

I don't listen to radio unless I'm with someone else. I had tuned in to this pop station in my area (online) that I haven't listened to for more than 10 minutes in years (maybe about 5 years). This was about three weeks ago. I heard the stuff that's big on the charts now (RITD, E.T., Who Says, the usual). It was weird to hear "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz and Beyonce's "Run The World" being played next to each other.

Another thought is that all the big sellers of the music industry right now are pop leaning, and ALL of them are putting out music this year or late last year. So it might be mostly just because of the current players. Maybe later in the year when the big releases are over we will see some new interesting artists pop in
