I'm saying she is one of the few mainstream artists who put extreme emphasis on her art and sometimes so much so that her music takes a back seat. The definition of performance art was not made in rebuttal of your post hence why it was spaced so far down from my first comment.

Come on...
Her cover was a blatant exclamation! Gaga's head on a motorcycle, that terrible font and its gradient scheme... They have better editors and you tell me that's what they came up with?! It was intentionally made to get people talking and it worked. Until you can explain to me the artistic depth, concept, and goal of that appalling cover, you can't say it wasn't done for attention when the obvious says so.
She does put emphasis, but she does it in a way that comes off as attention seeking. She didn't dress meat clothes and what not when it was The Fame era was she? No. In fact she didn't dress all that weird, but now she's just over exaggerating it on purpose. And it's not called 'evolution' either.
