And another thing that's rather unappealing to alot of people is her lack of input in any composition or production. It's not a good look to be in the game for over 10 years yet people are still feeding you work that should be at least partly your own. So I always get a chuckle out of anyone who puts Britney on a pedestal and claims she's some kind of dynamic, hard-working artist when she's essentially a puppet pulled by strings. Even her own fanbase drifts away after the novelty wares off, because she's just milking the same cash cow over again with no musical growth.

Britney stans aren't dismissive. Now, please, leave this thread,
but could you bring me another martini before you depart. Thanks, Red.

That's the major and defining difference between Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. Although
the critics are "harsher" with Britney, the public love and defend her, wholeheartedly, as if
she were part of their family. Gaga, on the other hand, is "praised" by critics, but the public
really doesn't connect with or defend her or her antics. And, again, the icing on the cake is
that even when Britney is not at the top of her game, her stage presence and performances
are still better than the other pop starlets.
I enjoyed Britney's Las Vegas performances more than Gaga's Grammy performance.
And that's not even the "stan" in my speaking.

The fine line between truth and negativity is too much right now.
Being a Britney stan these days feels more like being in a cult.

As long as the public around the world keeps buying Gaga's old ass albums like water in the desert, they can go on "defending Britney like she's part of their family."

I agree with this assessment with the way some people act and ignore the obvious, but that's not the case for quite a bit of people.

Sorry, Vin, this is delusion.
I go on a lot of other forums that are devoted to pop culture-related stuff without being fan intensive, Britney is largely seen as a joke at this point (justified or not), no matter how good her music is, whereas Gaga is the current "it" girl and at least gets begrudging respect from people who don't like her antics but can appreciate her music and the role that she has in it.
This is not me being some biased stan here, that's honestly how it is on pretty much every forum I frequent (probably more than I'd like to admit). I like Britney, I think a lot of the hate she gets will always stem from the bias against teen pop, but I do not see the general public as being in her corner. She still has a strong and loyal fanbase, and good on her for that, but that does not necessarily spill over in to mainstream opinion.

Britney has ALWAYS being a joke, it doesn't stop her from selling 130 million worth of tickets for her tours, millions of albums and singles and merchandise. She'll be fine, this review won't affect her as much as some people are PRAYING it does.

No.
At this point in her career, the majority of the people keeping Britney afloat are her die-hard stans, and even they have lives of their own considering both her singles are waddling in mediocrity on the charts right now. I think the Yahoo comments are more accurate representation of "the public" and obviously most of them weren't too hot about the performances. The critics and the public generally love Gaga. She fills in pretty much every gap that Britney lacks. She connects with her fans, shows personality and displays the grabbing the bull by the horns antic. Britney rarely even speak for herself.
Having flashing lights, smoke machines, glitter, and outshining backup dancers does not equal stage presence. Britney is stiff and lifeless on stage and that has never improved.

Cult? What cult? There is no cult.
It's too late. You've said too much. You will be dealt with. O_________O

What Alexz said. Britney has always been "the joke." In every movie, when they want to portray the joke of "blonde pop star," who do they always make the popstar resemble? And yet, she sells more albums, and behind Madonna and Cher, no other starlet can top her tours. So, again, like I've already stated, the public is on Britney's side. That's just the way it is and will always be. After all the years of lip syncing and the current "downgraded choreography," Britney will still sell and the public will always be in her corner despite what critics say. That's just clear. Non debatable, non delusional.
Sidenote: I did not know you were a Gaga stan. o__o;

A lot of people think she's an annoying attention *****. But the way Vin described it was so extreme. She wouldn't be selling as well as she did during the last 2 years if, as he claims, the public just didn't connect with her.
As for Britney being defended by the public like she's family - many people slam her for her continued (and increasing) lack of involvement.

Well, that's a demonstrable lie.
And I do think Britney will have continued success, especially through touring, because she has cultivated a loyal following.
There's a difference between that and still being America's Sweetheart who everybody's rooting for, though.

People are ROOTING for Britney. It doesn't mean they like her, but they want her to be well and do well.
Strip the stans away, I think the public sees Britney as the more personable of the pop stars -- and like her more.
