I generally don't like her, but she's totally right. Singers today - the vast majority of them, at least - do not have a strong and genuine artistic vision/integrity, they're here for the fame/money, hence why they are silent about the political situation, or other current issues. Sad.

Very true. The more famous you become, the more political you inherently become.
For example, Taylor Swift doesn't say a word about her political stance, and everyone makes her out to be a Red America, Donald Trump supporter. Beyoncé made a stupid song about hot sauce and Red Lobster and the republicans and alt-right now thinks she's the leader of the New Black Panthers, set out to destroy the police force and White Americans.

By stupid people, I meant stupid celebrities. A stupid normal person in the real world can voice any political opinion they want—I support that. Stupid celebrities should definitely not voice their opinions on politics or important topics, not in public anyway. And the stupid celebrities that are juuuust smart enough to know that they're stupid, usually tend to keep quiet on politics, and I respect them for that.

You mean the "stupid little song" that had strong references to BLM, which she performed at the worlds biggest event, while paying tribute to Black Supremacy?

I went to sleep, and since that night, I wake up every morning and it's like when you break up with somebody who has really broken your heart. You wake up and for a second you're just you, and then you go, "Oh, the person I love more than anything has just broken my heart, and I'm devastated and I'm broken and I have nothing. I'm lost." That's how I feel every morning. I wake up and I go, "Wait a second. Donald Trump is the president. It's not a bad dream. It really happened." It's like being dumped by a lover and also being stuck in a nightmare.

This is so accurate.

And Beyonce did speak up on the election so I don't get the weak attempts to drag her intelligence.

The Super Bowl performance was a tribute to Malcom X and the Black Panthers Party.

Discouraging "stupid people" from voicing their opinions is elitist/classist/racist.

Wtf?
Encouraging stupidity are we now. I've read it all.

She's right though.
It's sickening to realise some celebrities care about their reputation and are afraid of alienating the trash members of the general public rather than speaking out about social issues which affects everybody -- including their fans they claim to care about (even when they're not running off to buy their latest album).
That's why I admire Beyoncé so much. And the countless other celebrities who have spoken about various issues: such as the Orlando shooting, black lives matter and racial justice in America and the rise of feminism (such as #BringBackOurGirls). It's important someone who has that much power and a massive platform to influence others on everyday social issues.
Our society is very invested in famous people thus causing them to be probably one of the most influential and impactful factors of the 21 century.
I can't stress how important it is and I have zero respect for celebrities who don't feel the same way. You may be getting a big fat cheque in your bank account every week, but what are you really changing?

I agree with Madonna, however, it really depends on the artist or celebrity. By that I mean, no one, and I mean no one, wants to hear Katy Perry talk about politics. Don't take this the wrong way, but she's not a smart woman, and not all that articulate (just watch her interviews). No one wants to hear Beyoncé talk about politics (and she knows that, and that's why she still hasn't spoken out openly about politics). No one wants to hear Justin Bieber talk about politics. No one wants to hear Kim Kardashian talk about politics. No one wants to hear Diplo talk about politics. The list goes on. It's no secret that many, many, celebrities are very, very stupid.
Now, that being said, the smart celebrities do have some sort of small responsibility to say something on important issues. Madonna uses her intelligence and power to speak out on very important topics. Taylor Swift is smart and articulate but remained a little too quiet. Justin Timberlake will always keep his mouth shut because he's a pawn of the industry, an artist who uses Black culture but won't acknowledge any political struggle pertaining to Black Americans. Interestingly, no one ever calls out Ellen DeGeneres for her relatively quiet stance. She may do a generic, tv-friendly-for-soccer-moms "Trump is cray" joke, but Ellen has a huge platform and hasn't spoken on the issues strongly enough—she did make sure to call Kathy Griffin and complain about being in her book last year, though. In any case, actors tend to be a little smarter than musicians. And I do feel that actors are doing the heavy lifting in terms of speaking out politically: Angelina Jolie, Kerry Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Kesha, Viola Davis, et cetera.
In conclusion, yes, I agree with Madonna that more of Hollywood needs to speak up, however, if you're a
stupid person—and many celebrities are—or have a silly image, no wants to hear your "thoughts on the issues."

Katy's contributions to the election/Hilary's campaign were far better/smarter/useful/informative than Ke$ha's refridgerator shaped ass wearing a pantsuit.
