This is NOT the album Lupe wanted to record, and his true fans can tell. While it's a decent effort, I know Lupe is better off staying in his own lane as opposed to recording an album full of commercially acceptable radio singles (example: "Out Of My Head".) Lasers doesn't have that instant 'IT' factor that "Food & Liquor" and "The Cool" had, but it's acceptable.
I'm very letdown to be honest. I love Lupe, and I hope that even though Atlantic messed this project up, it's commercially successful, so maybe they will give him more freedom to make the albums he wants to (F&L 2 and The Great American Rap Album).
I would love a link if someone has it, just to know if I want to shell out the money when it's released on iTunes.., and I knew after hearing "Never Forget You," "The Show Goes On," and "Words I Never Said" that this would be much poppier than F&L and The Cool. While not necessarily a bad thing, Lupe isn't meant for the mainstream. He's an underground rapper and his record label should have been content with "Superstar" becoming a smash.
