I think you spend too much time on ATRL (aka the place where most people don't like Taylor and nitpick about everything she does and translate some headline into a fact).
She may not have had as much impact in pop music yet (if you exclude having one of the biggest eras this millennium) but she's had incredible impact in country music. Something industry people always talk about and hence she was honored with the Pinnacle award and was invited to present the award this year.
If you ask aspiring (singer-)songwriters or newer artists, 90% of them will tell you that one of their main inspirations is Taylor Swift, one of those artists recently had three #1s and was nominated for a big Grammy category. She also influenced girls to start playing guitar. In 2006, only 4% of students were female, 2009 it were 8% and now it's 60%. 8/10 of those female students credited Taylor Swift as the reason to start playing guitar. That alone is more powerful than making people dye and cut their hair a certain way or copy some dance choreography.
About the respect, I'm sure the majority of the most acclaimed people in the industry disagree with you. Also, you can't have it both ways. Whatever fits your argument better I guess. One second her haters post that she's still the American sweetheart who everyone loves but two seconds later she's not respected hmm...
