27. Adam Lambert - Whataya Want From Me
From the Album : For Your Entertainment 2009:Lady GaGa - Paparazzi 2008:Paramore - Decode 2007:Lupe Fiasco - Superstar 2006:Lupe Fiasco - I Gotcha (Feat. Pharrell)
I have underestimated Adam Lambert. Sure, he looks like that guy from Tokio Hotel, but I'm surprised he didn't win American Idol. He clearly has the vocals down compared to Kris Allen. Anyway, I give his album a chance when I heard Whataya Want From Me on the radio. Who would have thought that Pink wrote this song? I think that's why I like it so much. It's no doubt a really great pop song.
26. Vampire Weekend - Cousins
From the Album : Contra 2009:Muse - Uprising 2008:Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl 2007:Queens of the Stone Age - Make It Wit Chu 2006:Shakira - Hips Don't Lie (Feat. Wyclef Jeans)
It's amazing that these guys make a really fun catchy song in under 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The sound of guitar scratching at the beginning of the song gets the listeners ready for this rollercoaster ride. Well, it's a rush that I'm willing to take! It's a cute song that screams youth power. You have all sort of instruments jamming into one short track. Cousins feels like a refreshing take on Elvis Costello, I'm feeling it!
25. Maroon 5 - Misery
From the Album : Hands All Over 2009:Thecocknbullkid - I'm Not Sorry 2008:MGMT - Time To Pretend 2007:Rihanna - Don't Stop the Music 2006:Diddy - Tell Me (Feat. Christina Aguilera)
Before you say all Maroon 5 songs sound the same, isn't that what makes Maroon 5 so great? It's Adam Levine's vocal that swoons all the listeners off their feet. Misery is just a cheerful track that keep my Summer going. I'm not sure why the track isn't a huge hit like This Love. Both songs have the same ingredients that can lead them to number one on the charts... maybe they've been gone for too long. Who knows? Still love them, regardless.
Cousins! What a great song and video that is. A really nice job so far, on both the content/writeups, and the graphics, NG. I'm looking forward to the rest.
NG - you know I got mad love for your list. So, very happy to see this starting up.
Katy Perry definitely had the song of the summer (for pop music), and that V-Weekend track is money. I prefer "Giving Up The Gun", so that would be a treat to see it come up later (or "Holiday").
Willow and Lambert, two tracks I have found myself humming, but never truly enjoyed.
And not feeling the M5 this year
All in all a good start.
Oh - and loving the "G.O.O.D. Friday" vibe of your intro banner
Kanye better ****ing run a money train all over this list (I'm expecting Monster, Power, and Runaway all to represent)
