The truth is that dumping someone for sole reason of their gender identity is transphobic. They're just being who they truly are, and considering that you're all gay, you should understand that.

It's not necessarily transphobic. No one is entitled to your attraction. Otherwise we'll have to starting calling out people for having preferences on personality, sex, height, bodybuild etc. Treating someone as equal does not mean you having to consider them as a partner. And more often than not, trans entails far more than genderidentity so there are various components which might not fit in line with people's preferences, both pre op and post op.
The shame here is that the man felt so uncomfortable he asked for it be removed from air, that's a result of transphobia in our society. If I had a date and the person wasn't my type, I'd make the most of it and simply decline a second date.
