At least with the aforementioned you can expect incorporated elements, especially with the latter.

My taste has changed so drastically since I joined this forum. I struggle to listen to that stale watered-down pop from back in the day. Everything sounds bigger and better now, I ain't got ALL day to listen to Little Mix and Fifth Harmony when I can be getting my life to Rihanna and Beyoncé, among others

What is with this "Pure pop hit" nostalgia... it's beyond toxic lmao. Like I'm sorry that you feel sad that there isn't anyone in the top 40 making the exact song for you but Music in general is not even close to being boring. It's your responsibility to find what you're looking for. Isn't that what makes music fun? That you have the chance to discover stuff that you like. I swear some people validate themselves by liking a "smash hit", it's like addicting to them.

If you actually care about music you wouldn't be bored at all. But if you're just sitting there refreshing itunes charts looking for some global earth shattering mega hit, then of course you're gonna be disappointed. How about developing a taste that works for you instead of waiting for some pop song to knock your socks off.

For my music taste, this recent trend gave some amazing bops (Work, The Hills, One Dance, etc..) but also produced rap hits, which is one of my least favorite genres
I love The Weeknd's influence on the music lately
But nothing can top good electronic dance music for me. At least we got Ariana's Into You as a potential hit recently

I was trying to say that mainstream music today is boring and is lacking diversity in my opinion.

I can read and I know what OP is asking. My argument still stands. You shouldn't rely on top 40 music to satisfy your needs if it clearly isn't doing that. I'm not even recommending "whatever alternative artist" crap either lmao. I'm just saying that you're causing your own misery by only seeking out one place to find new music. Why complain about Top 40 trends when it's a choice to even participate in it. It's all just a reflection of what people are into. If you don't like it, nothing is stopping you from finding other music to listen to.
