i got this song on a cd i got in mighty kids meal from mcdonald's. although there wasn't much to compare to (and i was about 9) this song was the best on the cd.
Why are we acting like Solange is some underrated, original artist? Of course she doesn't sound like anyone else... because she focused her sound around a decade -- that's why. It's not because she's "out of the box." Florence Welch is an artist, someone who creates their own genre and sets themselves apart while being original, Solange just rehashed the 60's. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed a few songs on "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams," but I won't praise her for being inventive or "refreshing," because that's just not the case. She received the right amount of exposure for that album and deserved nothing more.

The same can be said for Amy and Adele (we know you don't like her, but that's beside the point), as do a lot of other highly praised R&B artists from this generation, why should that take away from Solange's music? Nobody's claiming that she's doing anything new, but it's refreshing because she's being true to herself, making music that she enjoys and isn't generic crap. She certainly deserves to be more popular when you see what's on the charts these days, but she doesn't seem to care much about that, so neither will I.
And why would you compare her to Florence Welch? Two vastly different artists with vastly different sounds. Solange isn't aiming to be a Florence (or anyone else for that matter) with her sound. It's cool that Florence has apparently gained enough popularity to become a reference point, but please, let's not use her in contexts that just don't make sense. Hell, Janelle Monae would've been a better comparison, though that still wouldn't validate your point.

Solange is a decent singer,
but I feel she lacks the passion that Bey has.
I wouldn't know myself, but it just feels like she
wouldn't mind doing something else like what she already does (dj'ing).
Nonetheless, I enjoy her. She is a breath of fresh air (not the most original, but a change from who I usually listen to).

I love Solange her second cd is perfection, I love it.
I like his music better than Beyonce's, it's much more original and inteligent, but she doesn't have enough charisma, beauty and vocal talent to be a big star
