ET is edgy and dark-ish, so I'd say yes. I want her to go the Natalia Kills route, but have the songs be more dance and catchier. She should work with producers like Jeff Bhasker and Theron Feemster.

Yep. I mean ET was kinda "dark and edgy" so I'm totally here for that. E.T. is her best song. I was stunned with the demo and was even more stunned with the final version.

People tend to forget that the whole sugary, candy pop look and sound was just something she wanted to try for this album, it's not really what defines her and her music as a whole so I say yes.

It was not well received by critics, though.

She can of course go more dark/edgy if she wants to. Whether critics will take her more seriously for that is another question, and I voted for no.

People see the whole sugar-coated pop thing as a negative, but no one can execute that as well as Katy. She could make a darker album if she wanted to, but she has to remain true to her artistry.
