Stressing the fact that she's black but rich and powerful...so what do they try to make a comparison with...a broke homeless person...Wheres the logic in that???

In the interest of transparency, I completely disagree with pretty much everything bell hooks has stated in this panel discussion. Her basic argument is vacuous - that Beyoncé only merits attention because of her elevated status in society. Sure, she might have benefitted from the systems and frameworks of whitewashed patriarchy that have undoubtedly placed her in a privileged position, but her true importance lies in her ability to manipulate these systems to her own ends, ultimately giving her agency while still allowing her to maintain an undeniable sense of empowered Black femininity.

Like what is people's problem? That Beyoncé is being, admittedly, overtly sexual in her lyrical content as of late? If anything it's a response to people constantly criticizing her for being stagnant or void of personality. So when she turns around and shares a very confident yet vulnerable aspect of herself, we're labeling her NOT ONLY as a '****', but as a 'terrorist to young girls'..? Why? Because she's singing about consensual, monogamous sex with someone she loves?

Lol I mean her argument almost stops making sense. She clearly just seems pressed that Beyoncé has become a powerful voice in modern feminism. Singling out Beyoncé's 'class' as if her success and wealth is anything she could have control of. It's not Beyoncé's fault that people love and respect her enough to have made her one of the richest celebrities in the world and IF ANYTHING she is a shining example of what hard work and determination gets you.

Everyone else can make snide jokes that her dad got her where she is, she bought her Grammy's, she's part of the NWO or what the hell ever they wanna say but the fact of the matter is Beyoncé STAYS empowering people, and people who try to tear her down are doing nothing for themselves or the rest of the world.

What I've noticed in the last few months is that a lot people don't know what feminism is and they often confuse it with sexism.

I'm just trying to figure out why it's perfectly okay for men to use their sexuality to their advantage and not women to use theirs in the same way.

To me that is another dimension to the female empowerment movement. When a female who isn't black uses their sexuality, people say it's great marketing. When a black women does it, even when she has actual musical talent, people say how dare she....

If Beyonce is a hypocrite, then so is Madonna, Mariah, Jennifer, Britney, Katy Perry etc...
