Nicole is very strange when it comes to singles. This isn't exactly single material. On top of that, her accent is so weird in this song that it kind of distracts from the message of this. Regardless, I can tell she put a lot of emotion into this song, but I don't understand how hurt she could have gotten in real life to get this inspiration. I guess what I'm trying to say is, this song had potential to be epic, but it kind of fell flat. It's still pleasant to listen to on occasion.
Only appearance by Nicole Scherzinger
189. Shakira f. Rihanna - Can't Remember To Forget You
When an artist releases a song on your birthday, you're naturally inclined to give this song a listen. Add Rihanna to the mix, and I'm more inclined to listen. This song is decent. Personally, the deciding factor on why it's so low is that this doesn't sound good when I have headphones in. it sounds great on the computer, but for someone that spends time outside of the house a lot (and tries to get out these days) I'll listen to songs that are good to the ears. This song simply just sounds better on the laptop then on the iPod.
One of three appearances by Shakira. Only appearance by Rihanna
188. Taylor Swift - Welcome To New York
Ryan Tedder really should not have interfered with this song. His songwriting just always irks me. I Know Places is pretty overrated on 1989, but at least this song is rightfully rated. This song is catchy, but easily one of the weakest songs on the album. It didn't need to be a promo single. That's for sure.
One of six appearances by Taylor Swift
187. Calvin Harris - Slow Acid
Definitely not my favorite Calvin Harris track, but this song definitely is different from his usual mainstream stuff. It definitely grows on you though. It's pretty cool now. Just the weakest Calvin song here on the list.
One of seven appearances by Calvin Harris.
186. The Vamps f. Demi Lovato - Somebody To You
Well, I thought their collab with Demi would be great, but it was just kind of annoying. I didn't need to hear "yeahhhhh YOU" so much. It's an ok song, but quite a disappointing collaboration. Thankfully Demi & The Vamps have other songs on the countdown better than this.
One of three appearances by The Vamps & Demi Lovato
185. 5 Seconds of Summer - Don't Stop
This song is catchy and very energetic, but if this song hadn't been a clone of Out of My Limit, it would have been way higher than where I'm placing it.
One of five appearances by 5 Seconds of Summer
184. Calvin Harris f. Big Sean - Open Wide
The beat is sick, but I guess it just feels plain weird to hear only a rapper on Calvin's music. Sean has a great flow, but I guess this song just isn't as interesting as the other songs on the album, or the other songs from Calvin on this countdown. A good song for a party though.
Second of seven appearances by Calvin Harris. Final appearance of Big Sean.
183. One Direction - Girl Almighty
Steal My Girl was a horrendous song and single, so honestly, I was a bit relieved when the promotional songs for the album were much better than that mess. Out of those five, this song was the weakest. Still MILES better than Steal My Girl though. Catchy when you want to listen to it, that's for sure.
One of seven appearances by One Direction
182. Cher Lloyd - Dirty Love
It was a toss up between M.F.P.O.T.Y. and this song for this spot, but the other song is way catchier, despite the immaturity people rip it for being. This song was the weakest promo single for Cher's album IMO. Still a cute song though.
One of six appearances by Cher Lloyd
181. Demi Lovato - Neon Lights
Catchy song at the beginning of the year, but a song I definitely didn't want to listen to that much again as the year went on. Ryan Tedder really should have pumped up the energy, because this song just lacked it. At a club I wouldn't care, but if I'm in my room, I'd need to be in the mood to listen to this song. At least this put the DEMI era back on track.
Back when I stanned for GaGa, this song was my jam. It was even my year-end #1 for 2011 originally. But 3 years later, I don't stan for GaGa anymore and I've distanced myself from the monster culture and hostility towards other stanbases. This song will remain the last song by GaGa I truly loved before she got too absorbed in her own artistic vision.
Only appearance by Lady GaGa
49. Madison Beer - Melodies (2013)
2013 has been my favorite of the 2010s so far in terms of music. There was a lot of catchy flops that slayed me 10 times more than any of the mainstream hits could have (aside from Wrecking Ball for example). This song is such ear candy! It's kind of weird to stan so hard for a song by a 14 year old, but Madison really delivered a catchy as hell tune that puts a lot of other kids her age to shame. She turned 15 this year, so I hope that as she gets older she'll make some slayworthy music. The irony is that she looks like Lauren from Fifth Harmony, who I got into last year with Miss Movin' On, and I didn't know Melodies existed last year. This year I got into it and Miss Movin' On hasn't aged well. Tables have turned and Melodies made the Top 50 for the 2010s so far.
