But y'all were quick to write off Applause, which is also closer to indie rather than mainstream pop too . Now that the shoe is on the other foot we have excuses for it's flop performance.
This song is indie, I am not surprised it's not doing as well as usual. However, like Applause, it's expanding Britney's catalog and will make her a better artist in the end rather than sticking to the same formula some artists like doing
Britney (or her producers) actually deserve more credit when it comes to releasing innovative, fresh sounding pop songs. People pass her off, but her songs always have an element that sounds fresh compared to everything else on the radio. I love this single btw.
Britney doesn't care about HUGE chart success. She just wants to make way for all of the other indie artists to push through with their obscure sound similar to "Work Bitch"
"I'm A Slave 4 U" was ahead of its time... "Hold It Against Me" was ahead of its time too. Right after HIAM was released it seemed like dubstep was everywhere in pop music...
