Britney's always had iconic moments at the VMAs, her last moment was iconic for all the wrong reasons. She chose to go with something simple for this comeback performance. The VMA stage was her last hurdle to overcome in terms of truly coming back, I think she did fine.
She kept it simple, she looked great, she performed well. How do you top your previous iconic moments? By not trying to top them. Britney looked like she had fun. I was entertained. That's all that I, as a fan, can ask for. It's not about ME. This was about her. And she did it.
Now that she's overcome what was the worst moment of her professional career, I hope she can return to the VMAs next year fully confident and ready to do something big now that the slate has been wiped clean.

She was doomed once it was decided she was going after Beyonce. With that being said, the performance was decent.

why are people so ridiculous? this is easily her best televised performance of any of the last 3 eras.
The only thing i dont understand is why she doesnt have a choreographer to do transitions? even when I saw POM, there were no transitions, just stand and wait for the next song.

Im sorry but this is just sad. She did nothing of the sort. She lipsynched (badly might i add) both songs and she came out with 2 dancers serving buzz single promo realness. The performance actually looked cheap. This is Britney F****ing Spears not a new artist. She had a legacy to live up or at least match and she flopped. She is no longer the Queen of the VMAs which is really all she had left

I think the only problem was the backdrop. Her team should've invested more on the atmosphere wherein she'll be performing.
Also, she should've performed something from Glory, too. But it was fine overall. The BBMAs were much better imo.

I'd give it a 7.2 out 10. From a technical standpoint, my only criticism is that she needed to be lit better on the stage—the lighting on her, on the stage, was too dim during the performance. I really liked the simple backdrop, though. I thought it was cool to see Britney Spears on stage with the simplicity of just a white backdrop and shadows. It had a certain type of energy. We're so use to Britney Spears having really heavily-produced stage design, and that stripped change up was really great and gave the first couple minutes of the performance an electric, cinematic flair, a different Britney Spears experience.

What??? BBMA Performance was definitely better than this but I can see how you'll like this better. She seemed to enjoyed performing this than BBMAs although she's enjoying herself at the BBMAs too.

Why didn't she prerecord?
Otherwise, her energy was there and she was enjoying it so it was good in that aspect.

I loved that she performed WITHOUT any theatrics. This is the new Britney I'm here for.

the bbmas performance was good, but 95% of that was recycled from POM. I was so worried we were going to get walking around the stage and flapping her arms for Make Me just like POM.

She was confident all throughout the performance, BBMAs took her a song and a half to get there.

It was good, she had energy and all that. I liked it.
But it wasn't enough, not for VMAs. It wasn't shocking or iconic. Nothing even memorable like her previous performances.
If this performance was at the BBMAs or AMAs or something like that, then it would be fine. But that performance was just... there. It's cute and all but... meh. I was expecting something stronger for the VMAs.
Btw G-Eazy is hot af she better snatch him

I can see everyone's point about the backdrop. I see it now, too.
