While I found most of 'Electra Heart' to be disappointing and very overrated on here, "Primadonna" is still one of the best singles of the year. The production is slick and dreamy, the lyrics are incredibly catchy, and it's just a lovely (albeit sonically misleading - in a good way) song.
"Pound The Alarm" - Nicki Minaj
Definitely my guilty-pleasure of the year. The video, albeit silly, is perfect for the song, and it's just slay-worthy generic dance-pop. And that breakdown… MUSIC. MAKES ME. HIGH.
"On The Metro"/"Beautiful Cause You Love Me"/"Every Now And Then"/ - Girls Aloud
I refuse to pick between these three. I refuse. They're all flawless and that's all I have to say.
"Esta Noche" - Azealia Banks
I feel like most Azealia fans are in one of four groups: #Team1991, #Team212, #TeamLiquorice, and #TeamEstaNoche. I'm clearly #TeamEstaNoche. It's sexy, danceable, and pure-Azealia.
"Some Nights" - Fun.
I prefer "Some Nights" ten-fold over "We Are Young" (even though WAY is a fantastic song too). The A Cappella intro with those fantastic harmonies, instantly recognizable drum part, and the line "This is it boy / This is war" are just some highlights that create an instant classic.
