Rock groups (actually only a few these days) have passion in what they're doing and it translates in vocals and the fan interaction. I see where you're coming from but it's wrong and right since most rock fans these days are teenage girls who get their life on the fact a man is shirtless and sweating in front of them.
That's not really entertainment.

You mean female ones right, because Justin Timberlake & Bruno Mars both dance...
As for Females, there's really only Gaga...

You named two bad examples. JT doesn't dance half as much anymore and Bruno doesn't really dance, he goes along with the song. He does little steps and choreography but not really anything extensive. Bruno could (and should imo) dance a lot more than he does now.

Idk, but regardless... Should the performances be judged on the dances or the music itself? (The correct answer is music.) I think that thanks to artists like Adele and Emeli Sandé, people are becoming aware that performances should be based more on music than visual effects.

I think that's a stupid suggestion (no shade) but simply why go to a live concert to listen to what you can hear at home? If the artist isn't adding anything vocally, presentation, musically, etc. then why purchase a ticket to see what you can see on youtube or award shows or just listening to the song?
That's why putting on a show is important for touring and getting people to come and experience the music in a brand new (hopefully more involving emotionally) way.
