I know this, and I have for years. I'm just not here for using them to support and argument or viewpoint, especially when no actual examples of their influence were given beforehand. Such as what you pointed out afterwards, for example.
It would be like me saying Madonna invented the modern pop star. Sure there's plenty of examples for that, but it's not really true because she only popularized it (much as the Beatles popularized their sound, though to such an extent as to lay the groundwork for the next decade on the charts and influence for 5 decades after). Cyndi did the modern pop star thing before Madonna, but without Madonna we wouldn't have most of those who did it after.
