Dead @ scaling up to hit a high note, when Bey is one of the few, out of her peers, that can hit a note dead on. Plus she's more versatile in her belting approach.
Am I missing sarcasm, or... Her range has only increased. ten years ago her highest live head note was C#6. Fast forward to 2012-13 and she's hitting D6/Eb6s. She's also hit as many F-G#5s now as she has before, so
I'm not impressed by Kelly's wailing at every end of a song for the dramatic effect. Plus i wouldn't call her mid register reliable. She tends to be inconsistent with high belts.
Where did she hit an upper belt without having to scale? Please give me a spot to look out for. I watched the entire first video, didn't see anything impressive. I've seen Beyoncé's current capabilities so I skimmed through the second video due to its length.
Sorry hun, but Bey can belt F5's without scaling up to them. In fact, Bey can belt G5's without scaling up to them. And she's not even a Soprano.
Kelly's range does not give her the edge. The placement of her voice is much higher than Bey's and yet she only has 1 (healthy) note on her. Her voice is solid and she's obviously gotten better because she used to shriek at times. But Beyoncé is a virtuoso. She masters some of the most difficult vocal feats imaginable. Her dynamic control is fantastic.

Receipt? I'm not trying to be annoying and say she can't do it. Beyoncé and Kelly are the top two vocalists in the industry right now, but I just haven't seen it. Providing a video will make me more likely to retract my claim than you just saying it.
Virtuoso is the most overused term by the Hive. All it means is that one "possesses outstanding technical ability in a particular field." It doesn't even need to relate to singing, necessarily. Being a virtuoso doesn't inherently make you the best singer. The term coloratura is much more specific and better defines what Beyoncé is capable of, honestly.

I didn't use virtuoso to describe her, I just said she was. I know she's a mezzo-soprano and I know she's a coloratura. She's the epitome of a coloratura. She also has incredible musicianship, I think that should be mentioned. Her knowledge about music is a bit underrated.
Here's Beyoncé belting a bunch of F5's without having to scoop the notes or scale up to them

Resonance = true vocal power
Resonance >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> loudness

Yawn. Talk is cheap, proof is everything. I'll wait until you present your evidence before I consider a lick of your analysis.
Keep in mind, I am a B stan - I like her for reasons beyond her power and range (which she surely has). I'm merely suggesting that the metric of "power and range" uniquely qualifies Kelly to take the crown. Come on now, no one can hate on B and her talent.

Alright, Beyoncé can hit upper notes without scaling as well. Thanks for showing a video. However, Kelly can access higher notes without scaling than Beyoncé. But, as you said, she is a full soprano whereas Beyoncé is a mezzo-soprano. However, when I was talking about this in my original post, I meant to say that Kelly's ability to do this has improved massively. She can belt a C6 without having to scale up to it. Major improvement over her idol days. That's what I was arguing. I've seen more improvement with Kelly than the other three.
I do agree that her musicianship is underrated. Kelly's is too. North&South knows more about that than I do, though.
P!nk and Beyoncé have gotten better with time
I don't really follow Kelly...
Christina has done great damage to her voice, but i think her voice is coming back
Beyonce and Pink have kept their voices in shape. The others not so much.
Screaming G5s and A5s is in no way a sign of a healthy voice. How well-maintained a voice is depends on the steadiness of the vocal line, the breath support, the intonation, how connected the voice is from top to bottom.
And Kelly is no one's spinto soprano. Her voice is far too small. Whenever she sings with volume, the voice picks up rasp. And the amount of sound she produces isn't close to that of a true spinto voice. She has some warmth in her timbre, that's all.

Okay, maybe it's true. I do remember seeing a few bad vocal performances from her a few years back and now she's definitely not making the same mistakes anymore. Especially in her upper register. Her voice is also more resonant now.
Kelly : Has power in upper register
Beyoncé : has power in mid-register
Brandy : has power in lower register
Now both have powerful voices, period.
But Beyoncé used to be excessive with her runs, she used to not be able to belt as high and her head voice has improved A LOT.
Oh please! Just being proficient in 1 or 2 areas isn't enough to take the crown. You gotta have all the essential vocal elements. The complete vocal package.
