Before the album release, California Gurls topped the Hot 100 for 6 weeks and Teenage Dream topped it for 2 weeks, yet the album only sold 190K in its first week. What makes y'all think that she'll come even close to 1 million?
Gurl it was only her 2nd era, everyone thought she would flop and that OOTB would be her only successful era. She wasn't as popular as she is now.
First of all she would have to write more original/better music. The promotion she presented for TD was one of the best promotions I've seen ever, but the albums struggled to sell, so that's an indicator.
She barely sold 2.5 millions with 8 singles, lots of promo, 6 #1's in the Hot 100 and a re-package... I don't think she can even have a 500k debut with her next album.
That's not true. Everyone was predicting a huge first week due to CG and TD smashing; even industry experts.

Meanwhile, the just-released title track poised to follow “California Gurls” (which hit 3m this week) to the top of the sales and airplay charts. Prognosticators are divided on whether Perry’s album will surpass Eminem’s Recovery, which bowed at 754k, to become the year’s biggest debut.
Nicole Scherzinger's long awaited debut solo album in the US is the one Britney should be afraid of.
Released in the first quarter of 2013, this will be the album her US fans have been waiting for, for 6 years.
The anticipation has been HUGE. The momentum is even bigger.
Coming for that 1.4 million debut without even an amazon discount.

And the OP doesn't, he's just TROLLING.
No excuses Tay's 2nd era has 592k debut week and she didn't even have a #1 song I say she'll do 250-300k this time but to think that Katy was unknown at the time is abit much.
