The US is too conservative... no conservative countries accept high amounts of immigrants, just look at the data

I'm German and I see lots of them on the street, even on Grindr and I couldn't care less,
I only want them to live a great life, like everyone deserves.

Considering that member is from Bosnia and Herzegovina of all places you'd think she would be more understanding

Yeah, that was my first reaction, too. Since my parents are also left Bosnia during the war and started a new life, in guess where?

The US should be taking more than whole of Europe
Why not send a few dozen planes to collect these refugees?

I was in Keleti a couple weeks ago and the refugees asking for money was damn too many I had to go away after some time, it was really scary there.
Turkey has already taken in an estimated of 2 millions refugees, I don't mind people living in this country but they have slowly started to do weird things like letting their kids out after 3 am to collect stuff from the streets. You can literally see little kids on the streets after midnight when they should be deep asleep.

Would you choose to go to Germany and be accepted or go to Calais where you're gonna have to sneak onto the back of trucks and likely either be caught or die?
They have to storm the train station because there has been police blockades outside for the last few days attempting to stop refugees from having access regardless of if they had a ticket or not. It's not a case of "If they lined up nicely they'd all get on eventually"
Because the British media, especially right wing messy ones such as the Daily Mail, are trying to play down the crisis. They're making it more about "People coming here to steal our NHS and benefits!!" than reporting the truth of them fleeing a massive mess in the middle east and Africa.
"David Cameron stands up to Migrant Crisis" vs "David Cameron refuses to aid refugees" - Daily Mail aren't going to sabotage their own man!

Germany is expected to have 800,000 migrants to come to their country this year, they have accepted 'only' 100,000 so far, so it's not nearly as much as you claim it to be. Also, Germany made an exception for refugees from Syria, but the problem is a lot of Afghani and Iraqi refugees try to get into Germany now as well and they don't want the economic refugees. Also, they are not only going to Germany, they just want to get to western Europe and it's a problem. I do think we should help them, but they shouldn't be allowed to stay here indefinitely. The immigrants that came here between the 60s and the 80s and their children are causing more and more problems here and want to force western countries to change their cultures and traditions when they are the ones who wanted to come here and thus should change their views/beliefs/traditions to assimilate. Accepting more and more refugees is gonna cause more and more problems, generating more support for right wing parties and sparking more conflicts between different ethnic groups. It's civil wars/ethnic wars waiting to happen

The Hungarian Prime Minister this morning:
Quote:
“Those arriving have been raised in another religion, and represent a radically different culture. Most of them are not Christians, but Muslims,” he said. “This is an important question, because Europe and European identity is rooted in Christianity. Is it not worrying in itself that European Christianity is now barely able to keep Europe Christian? There is no alternative, and we have no option but to defend our borders.”
|
"I'm defending the EU from Muslim influx"
Yup, I have no idea why the refugees would want to head towards Western Europe rather than stay in the East.

True, the actions of the US caused a big part of this situation. They should do something to help.
Europe is still in a financial crisis, there are barely enough jobs as it is. Europe can't take them all unfortunately.

Please. That would never happen, american's are currently rallying to have illegal immigrants all mass deported, and the conservatives view on muslim refugees would never allow such a massive intake.

Don't mean to offend anyone, but for some of them the "war" is only an excuse. Why don't they go to Kazakhstan, or Saudi Arabia, or the Emirates where they will be around people from their religion, similar to their traditions and similar lifestyle but they all want to go to Germany, Belgium, the UK etc. They are just looking for a better lifestyle.
|
The answer would be, because GCC countries and Kazakhstan, Iran, etc. doesn't provide asylum, and getting there illegally would get them in serious problems
Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq have already taken in millions of refugees. They are unable to take any more.

I do agree with you that other countries should take more immigrants. Sweden has by far the highest per capita, and countries like Poland and Latvia take like 20 people. The US should also accept a lot more

Poland literally said they don't want Muslims in their Christian country + the refugees can't afford tickets to the US, let alone move and live there

Yes and like the majority of people who came to Germany during the 90's they learned the language quickly, started to work (legally) and stayed here. Providing good education for me and my sister since a return to Bosnia was almost made impossible.
Nobody leaves their homes that easy. My parents came to Germany with nothing more than two suitcases. It angers me when I have to read comments on social media that I have read about the refugees from Syria. These people were fighting for their lives, acted in complete desperation.
And this is a situation that can happen to any of us, regardless where we live.
