Maroon 5 went from making more pop rock and soulful music to strictly pop.

And Rihanna? You must be unaware of her 7-album discography. She's done pop, R&B, dancehall, reggae, dance-pop, hip-hop, rap, electropop, EDM, Euro-pop, hell even electro-R&B. The Queen remains the most innovative. I mean, who could send two ballads to the top of the Hot 100 (Diamonds and Take a Bow), an EDM song (We Found Love), a dance-pop song (SOS & Only Girl), a Euro-pop song (S&M), and even hip-hop songs (Live Your Life and Love the Way You Lie)? No other pop stars are doing all of that but the Queen of Pop.

Kelly Clarkson on the other hand... Let's just say she probably would've swept this poll instead of P!nk had she been included.

According to Minogue, the pop world has a lot to be thankful for because Gaga's been instrumental in helping move dance music forward.

Rihanna has evolved as an artist..and people who claim she doesn't have a hand in anything are delusional as well. If you listen to "Unapologetic" you can see the different facets of her personality and her life. And the production is AMAZING. She effortlessly shifts from pop to alternative to reggae to rnb. She is MUSIC.

Music in general is kind of dismal. It's seeing a shift from the dance/electro craze that has dominated radio over the past couple of years. I'm not sure where it's headed, but it could use a bit of invigoration.

With that said, out of the list of girls that are "holding the industry back", none of them really are. Beyonce wants to bring rnb back(I don't think even she can do it)..Gaga and Katy have their anticipated follow ups to showcase their "evolution". Ke$ha is kinda out of it.. P!nk does her pop/rock thing(and I loved her latest cd). Britney is POP but it's interesting to see what she comes up with.

Dated music? When The Fame came out it did not sound like antything that was on the radio . Thats why the radio didn't even want to play Just Dance . And The Fame Monster? Did it sound like aything from 2009? Bad Romance? Really? Lets not.
