I'll tally up the results in a bit ...
... but I think it's clear to say that Drama is now between Game of Thrones and Mad Men? OiTNB did not get nearly as much love as people expected. No Schilling, No Mulgrew or Toussaint, no writing/directing nominations ...

Flipping through the noms right now. A couple of thoughts:
1. Better Call Saul is NOT good, and everyone should stop pretending it is. Odenkirk was the weakest link and the least compelling character on BB, and HE gets the solo spin off? Mess. Seemingly, the leftover Breaking Bad goodwill was enough to garner top nominations though. Boo.
2. Downton Abbey was a one season wonder. Why do we keep throwing noms its way?
3. FINALLY, Tatiana gets a nom. Great news. Bad news is, Orphan Black is a spastic, poorly-written 6/10 show these days.
4. Shocked @ Bloodline getting a couple of semi important noms here and there. A win for Netflix, considering there wasn't much of a push any front and it's release was super low key.
5. Poor The Good Wife. Poor Julianna. TERRIBLE season...the latter half, at least. Back to the drawing board for the Kings, and a complete waste of Matthew Goode.
6. Orange Is The New Black has always been a 6.5/10 show for me, so i'm glad no one's falling for the hype anymore. A poorly written show with a terrible, unlikable anti-heroine(?) and cliches all over, disguised as "social issues".
7. The Scandal/ Kerry Washington hype is really over, isn't it?

So.
When the nominations come out, I'm thinking we each take two categories = twelve episodes to watch.
Y'all alright with that?
Also, announce your preference for categories now or forever hold your peace!

I'll take Drama Lead Actress & Comedy Lead Actor
The only reason Better Call Saul & Downton Abbey got in is because Empire is too soapy. Homeland has kinda sorta picked up, so it's kinda sorta deserving.
All 6 will return next year & The Americans or The Affair will probably replace Mad Men... #JusticeForSoapOperas

Oh nice.
Glad about Homeland's resurgence. Besides that weird finale it was one of my favorite shows of the season. Wish Mandy Patinkin could've gotten in again tho.
Really disappointed in Empire's underperformance. Just Lead Actress and 2 measly Costume nods?

Series is a little too complicated, as there are six episodes each nominee submits! I'll give you Comedy Writing instead!

CLAIRE DANES, Homeland - From A to B and Back Again
Ms Danes always delivers a solid performance, but i'm afraid "solid" is not enough to win this year. She would have been a threat had she submitted "Redux" which is incredible.
Impact: She has the right amount of screentime, but i'm not really captivated by her.
Range: a substantial amount of range, but definitely not enough to secure her a fourth Emmy.
Empathy: Who doesn't empathize with Carrie Mathison when she's having an episode?
VIOLA DAVIS, How to Get Away with Murder - Freakin' Whack-A-Mole
Ms Davis is a fantastic actress and i'm always blown away by everything she does, However i'm afraid she might have submitted the wrong episode
Impact: The courtroom scene is Emmy-bait, but that's the only scene in a 45minute long episode that has impact. Had she submitted episode 9 or even the iconic episode where she took her wig off i would personally hand her an emmy.
Range: She doesn't have much. Sorry Viola, I still love you.
Likability/Empathy: I love Annalise when she's defiant, but I've seen better episodes.
TARAJI P. HENSON, Empire - Pilot
The Empire Pilot is the strongest submission in this category. Ms Henson is so compelling from the moment she's on screen.
Impact: Cookie hitting her son with a broom is iconic, Cookie telling Jamal "I got you" is iconic, Cookie barging in at the investor's meeting is iconic...do i seriously have to continue?
Range: Ms Henson delivers such a compelling performance. Her wide variety of range is what will seal the deal for her on Sunday.
Likability/Empathy: Really? Who doesn't like Cookie?
TATIANA MASLANY, Orphan Black - Certain Agony of the Battlefield
Maslany is one of my top 3 favorite actresses of all time. She just does everything so effortlessly. This is a strong submission that may very well earn her an Emmy on Sunday
Impact: The scene with Beth and Sarah was absolutely fantastic and of course that twerking scene Queen Alison had with Donny was EVERYTHING.
Range: This woman play 28612634 characters on Orphan Black. duh.
Likability/Empathy: I approve of ALL 356546 clones
ELISABETH MOSS, Mad Men - Person to Person
Elizabeth Moss is not a lead actress and her screentime in this episode proves that. She's barely in it..and when she is I just want to skip to Don Draper's parts. sorry not sorry.
Impact: None whatsoever.
Range: Girl bye.
Likability/Empathy: Peggy Olson's always been highly overrated. I don't care for ha.
ROBIN WRIGHT, House of Cards - Chapter 32
After last year's disastrous submission, Ms Wright is in it to win it. Great episode with strong performances all round.
Impact: Even though her performance is so subdued , the entire episode had me cheering her on and of course the scene with the Russian president is just "YAASSSSSS!"
Range: Wright's performance is so subdued... Range is probably the only thing she lacks in this episode, though it was nice to see her going against Francis for a change.
Likability/Empathy: If Claire Underwood wasn't likable before, this episode should surely have changed that
Who will win: Taraji P. Henson. She's playing the most iconic character out of the 6. She has the buzz and the episode. Just give her the Emmy already!
Who Should Win: Tatiana Maslany. She should have won two years ago. Shame on you, Academy.
Who was snunbbed?: Kerry Washington "Scandal". I don't necessarily believe Washington deserved her previous nods, but she had a fantastic "Run" in Season 4.

CLAIRE DANES, Homeland - From A to B and Back Again - Claire Danes continues to be excellent in Homeland year after year. I think this was one of her better tape submissions. She runs through a plethora of emotions as she orchestrates the events that go on in her episode and stalks them from behind the scenes. Her closing scene is the one that really stays with you, her frustration and meltdown exploding right before the credits.
VIOLA DAVIS, How to Get Away with Murder - Freakin' Whack-A-Mole - Viola Davis has had a great though largely unnoticed career until the past decade, where she finally started to pick up notices and soon started to become an award darling. Davis's performance as Professor Annalise Keating has turned heads and proved to be a strong ratings draw. The show fails Davis with the writing and it's cast but she is able to rise up despite this and rein in a performance that is interesting for everyone. In this particular episode, she really shines in the courtroom scene.
TARAJI P. HENSON, Empire - The Lyon's Den - Taraji P. Henson has had one of the greatest career resurgences with her role as Cookie on Empire. Sure, the show is campy, melodramatic, and vaguely reminiscent of a soap opera. But Henson takes this character (a character that could become a caricature in the hands of a lesser actress) and makes her become something so great. Something fun to watch but powerful to behold. She chose a good episode for herself too. Her flashback scene where she says her goodbye to her family. She plays drama, comedy, melodrama so so so well. She is my favorite of the nominees.
TATIANA MASLANY, Orphan Black - Certain Agony of the Battlefield - Tatiana Maslany is someone that has been deserving of a nomination for two years now and has consistently put in the work that would normally require the work of three or four other actresses. While Maslany is definitely lead, the show has begun to let her down. She does what she can to bring up her performance but I feel like this is a make up nomination for her prior two years of excellence.
ELISABETH MOSS, Mad Men - Person to Person - Elisabeth Moss has given us one of the greatest transformations of all time with the character of Peggy Olson. We've gone through a little more than half a decade following Moss and Peggy, watching her gradually change from a timid and meek girl to one of the most ruthless businesswomen in the business. I think she had better episodes to chose from from this season but this is still a great choice that'll remind voters of just how much little Peggy Olsen has grown as a woman and into one of the greatest modern characters on television.
ROBIN WRIGHT, House of Cards - Chapter 32 - watching Robin Wright's career come back practically overnight with her casting in House of Cards has been one of my favorite moments of this decade. She's always had a subdued career and it is finally great to see her gain traction with her role as Claire Underwood. Wright works well as a co-lead but sometimes I find her as supporting to Kevin Spacey's Frank. Her best scene in this episode was her reaction to the suicide but I ultimately felt she gave a better performance in the first season.
My favorites: Henson and Moss
My predictions: Davis, possibly Moss as a goodbye token

EDIE FALCO, Nurse Jackie - I Say a Little Prayer - Really great work, possibly my favorite performance of this category. The entire episode rests on Falco leading her team and those returning and finding resolution to her problems and relationships that don't seem to really end up going the way she had hoped. Falco has a commanding gravitas to her character but she gives us a great amount of pathos to her situation. There is some biting sarcasm that is expertly blended by a mainly emotional and powerful performance. Her performance, however, is mainly a dramatic one and feels almost out of place next to these more comedic performances.
LISA KUDROW, The Comeback - Valerie is Taken Seriously - the definitive lead performance. Quite literally. There is probably only a few minutes throughout the thirty where Kudrow isn't followed by the camera. Kudrow is the best, in my opinion, at bridging the humorous and dramatic aspects of her character to life. Everything little comedic quip that comes from her has an urgency to it behind Kudrow's eyes. Her physical performance is actually the highlight for me. The way she smiles, the way she looks, the way she moves her body all has a rewarding boost to her overall performance.
JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS, Veep - Election Night - this is definitely a lead performance. The entire episode focuses in on Louis-Dreyfus chaotic situation. She keeps the tone light throughout the episode but she runs the gamut of different emotions and different styles of comedy. Dreyfus does deadpan very well and she can go from one emotion to the next just like that. Great episode for her that demonstrates an exceptional lead performance in comedy that dabbles into the true emotions underneath.
AMY POEHLER, Parks and Recreation - One Last Ride - Poehler gives us a great conclusion to a character that we have followed for years. We see her go through several new aspects of her life as she goes through many years in the future. Poehler is exceptional, as always, and her biting humor is as present as always but we get to see something more emotional for her as her character's career grows and says her goodbyes (there are a couple of goodbyes this year, no?). I really liked this episode and Poehler shines.
AMY SCHUMER, Inside Amy Schumer - Cool With It - Probably the new big name to come out this season - not just in television but film too. This woman is everywhere. She's raunchy, she's fun, she's someone that we all know or have known at some time. Schumber is definitely the lead of her own television show. I like her performance. It's not my favorite of the nominees but I can see why it has been getting attention.
LILY TOMLIN, Grace and Frankie - The Vows - It has been a great year for Tomlin. I've loved her character in this show. This particular episode lets Tomlin reach into the dramatic aspects of this character as she struggles with moving on from her ex-husband and her emotions she faces after becoming the monster she hated by starting an affair with him - an affair that ultimately allowed her to get the closure she needed. They couldn't be intimate. They were over. I am not entirely sure I'd call Tomlin as lead in this episode though, the standout scene for me was Fonda's big monologue and she seemed to have the most closure to her storyline whereas Tomlin's was just beginning with this new conflict.
My favorites: Kudrow and Falco
My thoughts on who will win: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, second being Poehler.
