Oh you liked all 3 of those albums? The quality of those albums greatly surpass Fearless? You've actually listened to them?

Taylor was up against The Black Eyed Peas, The Fame, as well as that misguided Beyonce album which is three quarters filler and completely devoid of any real emotion. And Dave Matthews Band, which... I won't even go into. Name one good reason why Fearless shouldn't have won from that category.

The general public consensus is that she didn't deserve AOTY for Fearless.

None of the other albums deserved to win in that category, but that doesn't mean that there were not albums out there that deserved it more. Neko Case's Middle Cyclone, Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' It's Blitz were all on another level compared to the albums that WERE nominated. Hell, Lungs by Florence + the Machine was also there, if you want a more "popular" choice.

Of course I've listened to them, they won AOTY. And I promptly deleted them, because I've never been terribly wild about AOTY winners.

Objectively, they're all much better than Fearless

The Fame is a better album than Fearless by the way, and it even has its share of filler.

Anyway if we're going by metacritic, Fearless got a 71. Only The Fame got higher - and that was a 72, with 11 less reviews.

There isn't a rational explanation. It's no doubt because The Fame Monster didn't win that year, which of course makes The Suburbs a bad album.
