I have a couple of issues with this list (I haven't listened to all of the albums on the list, so I'll only critique the albums which I won):

1) Kanye West "The College Dropout" - Yes, this is a great album, but "Late Registration", his second disc, is even better. So for TCD to make it to #4 and LR not to make the list at all is a crime.

2) Green Day "American Idiot" - While this album does has some nice songs, I don't think it deserves a placement this high of a placement on the best album on the last 25 years. Radiohead (who I'll get to later), Coldplay (ditto), Feist, Smashing Pumpkins, Alanis Morissette, Bon Jovi, U2, White Stripes all have albums better than "American Idiot".

3) Amy Winehouse "Back to Basics" & Radiohead "In Rainbows" - Just because these two albums were two of the most talked about albums of the past year (Amy Winehouse because of her biographical hit "Rehab" and the troubles that followed her and Radiohead because of the fact that you could download the album for your own price) doesn't mean that they deserve this high of a placement. Come back in 5 to 10 years, and it won't make sense to the editors at EW as to why these were so high on the list.

4) Spoon "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" - I don't have a problem with its placement, but I do have a problem that it is ranked about Radiohead's classic "OK Computer" and U2's "The Joshua Tree". While I love GGGGG, OKC and TJT are superior albums.

5) Bruce Springsteen "Born In the U.S.A." & Jeff Buckley "Grace" - How these two albums, Springsteen at 75 and Buckley at 82, are ranked so low is shocking to me. These are two great albums, and their are a handfuls of albums that are above these two classics that shouldn't be.

6) Albums that didn't make the list - I'm shocked that some albums didn't make the list, including:
Oasis "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?"
OutKast "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below"
Smashing Pumpkins "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness"
Bon Jovi "Slippery When Wet"
U2 "All That You Can't Leave Behind"
Coldplay "Parachutes"
How these albums didn't make the list is beyond me and I'm not really sure how the EW editors came to the conclusion to leave off some, if not all, of these albums.

With that being said, here's my list of my 10 favorite CD's of the past 25 years:

Obviously, I'm an Oasis fan, but really, a poll they did earlier this year in Britain voted that album as the #2 best British album of all time (only behind the #1 voted best British album of all time, Oasis' Definitely Maybe, but wtv)...

How f@!%ing disgusting that Kelly Clarkson made it that high, the fact that she even made it all is truly pathetic. TEOM was a good album but it was way overrated and of course they chose the wrong Madonna album to place in the top 10. Thank heavens I unsubscribed to EW last year. I lose a lot of respect for that magazine and its writers after this debacle of a list.

Srsly, how in the hell did Breakaway rank higher than G n' R, Alanis, TLC, Wilco??!!!!!!!!

And I don't understand why DIL is so high either....it's not that great! It deserves a top 100 spot but #19 is way too high. More like mid 40s-50s

I'm not surprised, Oasis always polls good in votes for the best British album. And what makes it even crazier is the fact that it was a HUGE record when it came out. I mean, Wonderwall is one of the most successful songs to come out of the 90s. And while Definitely Maybe is also amazing, it isn't as shocking to see that off the list because it wasn't as commercially successful, which seems to be part of the criteria when creating this list.

Some of these omissions are blaring and made even crazier when I see that acts like Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson are placed in the top 30.

I've asked the same question. And I'd guess that the albums are ranked by how good they are, album sales, and cultural significance. That's the only reason I can think to have In Rainbows ahead of OK Computer, among other flaws on this list. (But at least Radiohead got an album in the top 10).
