Arctic Monkeys are much less popular than they used to be. When they were huge they were associated with Myspace lol.

They are an indie rock band signed to an independent label. They certainly dont make the type of music played on mainstream radio and despite of all of this became very popular and successful, only thanks to their brilliant music

Putting aside my obvious bias, there is absolutely no way that the Arctic Monkey's are bigger than Gaga. Perhaps they have more buzz on the internet at the moment, but how can an act that has no Top 10's in the US, a #6 peak on the Billboard 200 as their highest charting album, and no tour gross past $100,000,000 be bigger than an act that has 13 Top 10's in the US, two #1 albums, and two tours grossing over $100,000,000? I honestly just do not get it.
And then I'm sure some people will argue that they are bigger in the UK, but even then, they only have 6 Top 10's there, compared to Gaga's 11. Yes, they have more #1 albums there, but that's only due to the fact that they have put out more albums than Gaga has, as all her albums (The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and ARTPOP) have gone #1 there as well.

Ok cool for them. So they were bigger in the last 30 days with a succesful album while Gaga was on a media blackout

Who said I was referring to Gaga? I know all her albums are #1. The Monkeys still have more #1 albums than her, though.

So did U2, Muse, Coldplay, Arcade Fire (better than AM) and all of those bands that started as indie rock then became successful. It's good that they compare a critically acclaimed rock band with Lady Gaga, a pop star that makes "generic" music.

And Arctic Monkeys are just as popular as those bands when they were at this point of their career, its pretty awesome.
They arent comparing the music hun, nobody sane would dare to insult Arctic Monkeys like that. This whole article just says AM are right now bigger on TUMBLR while monsters are fuming. Thats all
