I think growing up with my 2 sisters being like my best friends influenced me in some way, and being raised without my dad. but yea i used to like brushing my sisters dolls hair. and taking care of their baby dolls. i use to babysit them.

I say no. Infants don't have a sexuality, that is something that develops as you get older and is influenced by your surroundings and environment. I wasn't born gay, my attraction to the same sex didn't start until I was about 13.

If you want to bring in personal experience as a 'proof,' I found myself attracted to other males when I was as young as 4. There wasn't a sexually physical component to the attraction (yet), but it was something I knew very early on.

Sexuality, as in your attraction, is determined at birth. That isn't to say that sexuality isn't fluid, so those who have had heterosexual encounters before identifying as gay are not invalid or confused. Sometimes it's not very clear and with the socio-cultural emphasis on heterosexuality/masculinity, there are many gay men who have had heterosexual relations.

But if I were to incline towards a theory, I think genetics predisposes you to a certain sexuality and environement/child raising plays a bigger role in directing you towards your sexuality

When I first saw the title I was ready to answer YES, cause I thought what you wanted to know was if being gay is an option or if you are "born with it". In this case, no, it's not an option. I can't change it. But I wasn't born gay. I remember liking boys and girls until I was 7. Now, just boys.

No one is born straight or gay. You don't have those kinds of feelings until you hit puberty. You're not attracted to anyone sexually either. Everyone is basically neutral. However, you ARE born with the predisposition of whatever your sexuality is. Straight, gay, lesbian, etc.

I find it hilarious when ppl use the "environment" theory. I grew up in a stable family, both parents were present quite a lot and equally, and another thing is that they are very homophobic and so is my extended family and home country (Iran). If you want to know if it's a choice, just ask a gay. Don't go jumping to conclusions just b/c you were raised to hate gays. Who would you rather believe, a straight homophobe or someone who is actually gay?

And another thing, when twats say it's a choice it makes you sound as if you're speaking from experience. Have you magically turned gay and back to know? Are you reading the minds of gays to know what they choose and don't? You're (the homophobic assholes) not me, don't know me and have no idea what it's like. You're not in my shoes and most importantly you certainly don't have the ability to somehow tell me what I choose and don't. WHY would someone choose to be gay, especially in a world like this where you're frowned upon, sometimes imprisoned or killed in some places, and why would you risk the bullying and possibility of loosing your friends and family over it? Why go through with something that gives you such a hard time? I didn't want to feel unnatural, depressed, etc. If it was a choice I would be straight.
