Like by all means a gay pride parade in Saudi Arabia would be courageous and for a worthy cause but now they're just an excuse for guys to hook up.
I'm here for Straight Pride tbh, it's not something I'd take part in but there isn't anything wrong with it and calling them homophobes is pretty ignorant.

There are still plenty of gays being oppressed in Western countries, especially the UK.
The gay pride parade isn't just for white gays with atheist parents who can do whatever they want, it's for all gays, and not all gays in the UK are free.
And there is still plenty of homophobia in the community and on the streets.
Straight Pride wouldn't make sense because you can't be oppressed for being straight, it's the norm. It doesn't need attention and it doesn't need to be discussed.

Uhm, actually a gay parade is not hateful or disrespectful towards straights. This whole straight "parade" was just about bashing gays and had nothing to do with pride. Some people just can't live their life without hate, what a sad way to spend this life.

Times are a'changing. People who will be homophobic will just be turned off by the mess that is gay pride, it won't help at all. It's pointless. At this point the vast majority here support gays and they should spend more getting legislation past than having a party and annoying people by acting stupid (not a homophobic thing, just that I think people in general need to tone down a biT and they're pretty annoying)
That doesn't mean it should be attacked. Gay pride is just gays acting as provocative as possible and meeting new people at this point, I see no reasons why straights can't have an equivalent

But if you want a straight pride parade, then go to the mall or something. You'll see tons of heteros proudly holding hands and not giving a ****, because guess what...they are straight and they are deemed as "normal". Gay couples cannot do the same in public in most places in the world. Like, you have to purposefully be acting this stupid.

Yeah but gay pride has lost all meaning and is now more of a social event tbh. The Christmas of the gay rights movement
Let the straights be.

The point of Gay Pride is not that every gay has to be on their best behavior to get straight peoples approval.
It's to get attention, and it works.
Making homosexuality discussable is making it more normal for society and therefor embrace it in time.
There will always be flamboyant gays, there's no need to hide them. If you really wanna change people's minds about how you think gays should be seen as, well, come out, tell everyone you're gay and set an example.
Until then, stop hating.

So Nicki uses her body to sell for Anaconda and y'all call her rude misogynist names
Gays act the same way, probably more sexual tbh, and it's 'raising awareness' and 'brave'
Hmmm
Everyone needs to be less sexually upfront. If you wanna tackle the issues tackle the issues, but they go too far and create negative stereotypes more than anything.

Idk what Nicki did and idc, we're talking about an oppressed community.
Not all gays do so, I'm sure you don't for example.
Like I said, you can't tell people what to do and who to be, so again, if YOU disagree with the stereotype that is given to gays, YOU have to prove your environment wrong.

And that's real hard to do when every year the messiest gays in the country get together and play a game of 'who can be the most flaming gay!!!!'. Like you don't see straights doing that to prove 'how straight they are', gays shouldn't have to either, it harms more than it helps

I know, I've been there, I'm there right now actually.
But the more people openly come out, are gay and state so, the more people see how much diversity is in the gay community, or actually, that anyone can be gay and that it has nothing to do with personality or looks.
But just because it makes it harder for you to come out you shouldn't hate on the Gay Pride, hate on the judgemental ****s that are straight people (not all ofcourse). That's what I do.
Believe it or not, the Gay Pride helps even you.
Anyway, straight guys never try to prove how straight they are huh?
Saying how gay other guys are is probably the #1 activity in proving that.

Yeah, but associating the idea of being gay with being as provocative as possible to get attention isn't exactly helping at all. I'm all for people being openly gay, but that is too much. This isn't about fitting into the 'straight mold', this is about being an acceptable, self respecting human being. Deliberately alienating yourselves from people isn't helping. 'Gay pride' is the worst thing to have ever happened to the idea of gay equality. It hasn't focused on the (diminishing) issues for ages, it's just an excuse for making gays feel like they're doing something and a way for them to hook up. The idea of being 'camp' has been around for a while but gay pride reinforced that massively. It has no positives whatsoever. Instead of people thinking of gays as human beings they're seen as 'those weird flaming ******s'.
