King of the Decade ::: Justin Timberlake
---Justin Timberlake is hands-down the Pop King for the 2000s, and he is very likely to inherit MJ's throne in the upcoming years. He started out with our Queen on the Mickey Mouse Club in the 90s, and he skyrocketed to worldwide fame with the most popular boy band of the time, *NSYNC, famous for songs such as "Bye Bye Bye". He later strengthened his fame as a solo artist, with his album Justified. This album brought us the tearjerker "Cry Me a River", related to his relationship with our Queen. It also gave us the hit pop/dance song, "Rock Your Body". His next album FutureSex/LoveSounds spawned many hits, including "SexyBack", "My Love", "Summer Love", "LoveStoned", and "Til the End of Time". Since then, he's been working behind the scenes with other artists and has collaborated with Timbaland on "Give It to Me" and "Carry Out" and with T.I. on "Dead and Gone". Now it's time to wait for his next album and see if he can continue his reign into the next decade.
Queen of the Decade ::: Britney Spears
---Britney Spears was the unstoppable Pop Queen this decade, and her work shows it. She launched on the scene with Justin, thanks to the Mickey Mouse Club, and her solo career began in the late 90s with "...Baby One More Time". She launched this decade with "Oops! I Did It Again" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy", which made her the "it" girl of the decade. She continued her reign and showed her fame when she collaborated with Madonna on "Me Against the Music". Their VMA kiss has become the legend of this decade. Her single "Toxic" blew up the radiowaves. She went through a rough struggle with relationships; one with Justin Timberlake early on in her career, and later with... Kevin Federline. After their divorce, her life fell apart. Remember the photos of her shaving her head? Her life spiraled out of control, but she made some of her best music ever. In 2007, she released Blackout. Although her VMA performance showed she was still struggling, her music was improving. "Gimme More", "Piece of Me", and "Break the Ice" were the hottest songs back in the day, and "Radar" shined through in the Circus era. She left behind many hidden gems as she moved on to Circus, which spawned the #1 hit "Womanizer", followed by the irresistible "Circus" and "If U Seek Amy". In 2009, she launched her worldwide Circus Tour, which became the highest selling tour of the year. She closed the decade with her single "3" for The Singles Collection, which celebrated 10 years of Britney music and a great decade filled with her talent. This debuted straight at #1. What a great way to close a decade! She is now working on her first album of the new decade, which will hopefully show her strength and continue her leading success.
