I'm here to **** ya'll up...
Rainbow, Glitter and Charmbracelet have flawless, 10/10 singles, bar maybe 2-3 songs. I was swimming in 9s and 10s across the 3 albums. It's Like That and Say Somethin are hot too. JLo's basic ass is going to the deep end- Play, Waiting For Tonight, If You Had My Love and Ain't It Funny (Original) aside.

What were you listening to?! "Thank God I Found You," "Can't Take That Way," "Crybaby," "Through the Rain," "Boy (I Need You)"—these songs are mediocre at best, offensively bad at worst. Yes, the Glitter soundtrack is incredible, but let's not let our stan goggles get in the way of reality with those other two.

Done with Jennifer now. She really slayed with On the 6, didn't she? Too bad she couldn't keep it up. I don't know why she kept releasing all those basic ballads. "Hold You Down" has to be the worst song in this whole rate.
|
IKR. Her Spanish ballads are even worse. (for the most part)

!!
I'm sorry, but "It's Like That" = "Don't Forget About Us" > "We Belong Together". "Say Somethin'" is such a gem.

It seems so...Iconic though.

I marked Crybaby and Mariah's Theme...accordingly. The rest were solid 9s and 10s! I loved Mariah's music at this period in time.

The original version of "I'm Real" wasn't released as a single, whereas the original "Ain't It Funny" was. That's why only the "I'm Real" remix was included.

Sis, music video =/= single.
Many non-urban radio stations played the original version, but it never received an official release.
Oh, and "Ain't It Funny" (the original) was released a few months before the remix, and even charted separately. "I'm Real" was released only as the remix, in September 2001, and only charted as the remix.

I hate those ad-libs JLO does on the chorus of the original "Ain't if Funny" lmaooo
Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny (OOOoOHhHhh)
And you can't move on even though you try
"Crybaby" is great lol I always used to ignore it when listening to Mariah's catalog. I love the flow of it.
Don't Stop(Funkin 4 Jamaica) is getting a 10 FOR THAT BRIDGE ALONE!

J.Lo EXCELS when it comes to singles and she was UNTOUCHABLE when she first came on the scene. Her rates will be rewarded with multiple 10's and 9's. That is all I can give away...... J.Lo isn't the underdog that people make her out to be.
J.Lo is the original Rihanna/Ciara.

Yet, the average r&b singer would have trouble singing it.

I prefer "Ain't that funny, Baby that you want me, when you had me
Love is crazy, now I can smile and say, Ain't that funny".
"Crybaby" is okay. It sounds weird listening to it by itself, but it fits Rainbow so well.
I LOVE "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)"! It's one of Mariah's most underrated songs. It's overlooked just because its on Glitter.

Alright gurls, you have 4 more hours to get your rates in.
I'll start counting the votes tomorrow, and then this rate will be started in a few days.

tbh, Mariah doesn't deserve to win this.
Besides EOM this was her worst time period while it was Jennifer's peak.
But knowing ATRL and their hatred for Jennifer Mariah will win. Oh well.

If you two want to have any impact on this rate, you have to vote!
And Tim, WBT is kind of better than any single Jennifer Lynn Lopez Noa Judd Anthony has ever released. No shade on my part either!

"We Belong Together" is amazing and one of my favorite Mariah singles so I don't mind your opinion at all.
However for me, none of the singles Mariah released from 99-05 top "Waiting For Tonight" & "If You Had My Love". "We Belong Together" & "Heartbreaker" come close though.
I guess I'll submit my votes even though they won't matter anyway...
