I'm 23, I don't need no pop star to tell me fairytales, less so, ones that have such a simple, plain and flat storyline.

People of all ages enjoy fairytales. And y'all have absolutely NO receipts to Katy's fanbase being mainly 12 year olds. Adult radio eat up her songs, and if you see her concert videos, most of the people in the audience are teens and up. Of course she appeals to 12 year olds more than say Lady Gaga, but her fanbase is not only made up of them.

No they just make pure true classic pop music like Britney Spears
The only reason they appeal to kids often is because kids enjoy this type of music and it often doesn't have inappropriate language but there clearly are exceptions. However their music also greatly appeals to teens and adults too and that's why they became such huge artists

Katy Perry lives in a bubble I can't relate at all, that's it.

Lol so it means Katy is for children? Ok just bye, you are not the center of the world.

Hey, wait a minute, I'm not trying to shade your Katy, what I'm saying is that as a 20+ person I don't think she makes music for us, that's it. Less so people older than me. It's not a proof, I'm just saying that as a person with a mindset of a 20+ years old.

Like in which world you live mate? I know a lot of people of my age from my country and lots of parts of the world and THEY DON'T LISTEN TO KATY PERRY.
They don't even listen to most pop for f's sake!
And if in the US they don't let kids drink until 21, lemme tell your for example in Russia, the last time I've been there, you can drink if you're 8+ years old and any drink below 10 degrees of alcohol is not considered an alcoholic drink, so sit down and grasp life.

Katy appeals more to the younger audiences, but I'm not sure about Ke$ha.
I'd much rather dance to a Ke$ha song in a club than a Katy Perry song. I can imagine Katy's songs being played at a McDonald's party or something. I reckon younger children would also idolize Katy more than Ke$ha.

Not everyone in the world wants to be/is some weed addicted, beer guzzling chain smoker. Just because Katy's music doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it's like that for everyone else. And who is "us"? I'm 17, you're only a couple of years older than me. And I myself enjoy Katy's music a lot more than the music made for "your age group". But you don't see me saying all 17 year olds enjoy Katy's music, because that's not true and I can't speak for everyone like you are doing right now. But the FACTS are that Adult Radio spin Katy's songs, and many teens attend her concerts, proving that she doesn't mainly appeal to 12 year olds.

What is the point of this part? I don't care about drinking. You said that, because you have been drinking since you're 13, Katy is not what represents you. And who cares? Artists need to act like Rihanna to be considered as "artists for adults". The TD era is about fun and youth but it does not mean Katy is for children. Of crouse the album is not as serious as an Adele album but it is the TD theme that makes it funny. 12 years old people love Katy but not only them at all.

Excuse, I don't want to sound prejudiced, are you a girl or gay? 'Cause predominantly girls and gays listen to dance, electronic and pop music regardless of age. I did watch some girls of my age jam to 'Teenage Dream' (song) and 'Last Friday Night'.
It's not about being a drug user, honestly, people who don't do drugs still don't listen to Katy Perry. The ones I know of course.
I, myself, listen to all kinds of music, but honestly I don't live or relate to Katy's music where everything is perfect unless you break your nail. I mean, the 'Last Friday Night' video was so childish, fun, don't dislike it, but it doesn't relate to me at all, I'm just saying that.

The point of that part is that maybe because Katy Perry is a US based act and there's very conservative laws that control teens there, Katy Perry brings that image that doesn't cross the PG-rated line to her music and visuals.

Me being gay has nothing to do with what music I like. I also listen to rock, electronic, hip-hop, alternative, dance, and country.
It's pointless even discussing this since all your receipts come from your life experiences.

Not at all!
But generally heterosexuals listen to more varied music, gays generally listen to dance, electronic and pop and that's not a lie.

You said that there were girls of your age that listened to Katy but you said that is not what you and your friends listen to, so that is why, it looks like, for you, straight boys decide what is for children and what is not.

Oh no, don't get me wrong! I've thorough my posts in this thread have brought other points to why I think Katy's for kids. I still listen to a couple of Katy's songs, and if you asked me, 'One Of The Boys' is a record of general appeal to the whole demographics.

Pop music in general is heavily consumed by kids.
I don't think it's just katy and Kesha but also Gaga and Rihanna
Maybe Katy is more appreciated by parents because she has a sweeter image than Rihanna or Gaga.
But I think the only "artists" that are targeted towards 12 year old are boybands and Disney stars.
