Originally setting out to become a marine biologist, Kelly Clarkson became a household name after being crowned as the inaugural winner of American Idol in 2002.
Praised for her vocal prowess and versatility, she has been invited to perform live for distinguished notables from President Barack Obama to Pope Benedict XVI.
Already making waves with her victory on American Idol, Kelly’s first single, A Moment Like This, topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for the biggest jump to #1 in the chart's history, besting The Beatles' record for the biggest leap ever from #52. AMLT went on to became the best-selling single of 2002 in the USA.
The lead single from Kelly’s debut album, Thankful, became a stepping stone in helping her shed her “American Idol” persona to the “girl next door” image. Miss Independent became an international hit, earning Clarkson her first Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2004.
Becoming the last minute lead single (due to the song being a hit from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement) from her internationally successful 2004 sophomore album, Breakaway marked Kelly’s departure from her previous image and R&B oriented sound to become the Pop/Rock chanteuse that she is today.
Winning the 2006 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Since U Been Gone, the second single from Breakaway, received universal acclaim and propelled the careers of the then irrelevant Dr. Luke (and Max Martin to a much lessor degree) to prominent pop producers. Being categorized as a defining song of the 2000s, Billboard commented on SUBG’s status as a blueprint for female pop songs, as seen in song productions by artists such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Pink.
Her too. Can't believe y'all left out her best singles.
There was a round table to decide what each artists' signature hits were. Some singles that I loved didn't make it cuz it wasn't considered "signature."

In her follow up to her monstrous second single, Behind These Hazel Eyes was released in 2005 to rave reviews. It was the last song Kelly recorded for Breakaway and almost did not make it onto the album. Commercially, this heavy Pop/Rock song peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 20 consecutive weeks inside the top 10 without peaking in the top 5, a Billboard Hot 100 record.
Written at the age of 16, Kelly fought tooth and nail to have Because of You included on Breakaway, ultimately becoming her fourth and most successful single around the world. BOY recieved universal critical acclaim upon release and became the first song that Kelly performed on the Grammy stage (to a standing ovation and glowing reviews).
Acting as the lead single from her fourth studio album, All I Ever Wanted, My Life Would Suck Without You marked Kelly’s comeback to the Pop scene in 2009. Having been highly anticipated ever since the mediocre success of her third studio album entitled My December, MLWSWY reached #1 in its second week when it moved up the chart from #97. Kelly now holds the record for the furthest jump on the Billboard Hot 100 after previously achieving the feat with AMLT.
Released as the second single off her Grammy Award winning 2011 fifth studio album, Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) became Kelly’s third #1. The three time Grammy nominated song broke personal chart and commercial records, becoming another indisputable signature song for Kelly.
More released. Kelly actually has the most songs in this rate with a total of 8 signature hits. Ace suggested Kelly's list and even I was surprised that he included 8. So proud of our girl in having so many signature hits.
