69. Stay - Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko
Hands down the most beautiful and perfect song Rihanna has ever recorded. The simple piano matches perfectly with Riri’s voice, which is at its best as she holds the note at the end of the first chorus. Mikky Ekko shines with his song writing and incredible voice. You can feel the heartbreak in both of their vocals and it’s just so so beautiful. The second and last Rihanna entry for this list. Sorry Navy
68. La La La - Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith
I personally think that Naughty Boy is one of the best producers out there, his album has so many incredible and catchy songs, and this is defiantly one of them. Well written, being like a little kid and blocking out all the bad stuff around you by singing the hook. Also very well sung by Sam Smith
the epic "La La La"!!! one of the best songs released this year, I love every thing about it! The song, Sam Smith's vocals, the music video, the strange "La La La's"
Epic entry!
67. Final Warning - Skylar Grey
My favourite song from Dont Look Down. Her haunting voice gives me chills and its a very sinister song, sounding like a psychopathic killer in “if someones gonna get hurt, na na na na na na, and its not gonna be me”. I highly recommend you watch the video, its just as dark and bone chilling as the song.
66. Karma - Stockholm Syndrome
This could of been such a big song. Its Dance gold with lyrics that warn you about messing with these girls. They are so fierce when singing about telling the “girls how small you really are” or how not to blame them if “your boss finds your website search history”. A great follow up to the crazy Pretty Girl from 2012 but this is the only song they released this year. Incredible bop you should check out”
65. American Girl - Bonnie Mckee
Definition of a pop star and a pop song right from the start of the song. You can tell her work with Ke$ha and Katy Perry influenced this song with lyrics like “ I fell in love in a 7/11 parking lot” and “If you talk with your hands then we can negotiate”. The verses get you moving and then it explodes in the chorus. Not only does it have a great music, everybody seems to be in the promo video. Shame the song and Bonnie weren't bigger.
64. High School - Nicki Minaj feat. Lil Wayne
She had a lot of features this year, but one of the Nicki highlights of this year was her only main single High School (however, one Nicki feature does make the list). The closing to the mess that was the Re-Up era, Nicki kills it with the first verse, which is the only verse we really get from her on this track. That, the beat and her voice in the chorus are the only highlights of this song. Not really here for Lil Wayne, the bridge and the fact that there is only one Nicki verse.
63. R U Crazy - Conor Maynard
Having loved Contrast, I was really excited for new Conor music in 2013 and despite this being the only song he released this year, I am far from disappointed. Its a bop, great production, shows off his voice really well at the end of the second verse. I love the no no no no no no no and the repetitive chorus before it breaks down on the bridge. The video and song definitely shows a mature side to Conor and the jazz version is just a good as the original.
62. Brave - Sara Bareilles
The 2013 Born This Way/Firework/Raise Your Glass. An inspiring song with such an infectious and catchy sound . The video is so cute. Sara’s voice is incredible on this, you feel how passionate she is about the message of this song. This care free feeling song is worthy of its Grammy nomination. This song also appears again on this list…
61. Come and Get it - Selena Gomez
Took me a few listens before I started liking this song. Despite having a bit of a disliking for Selena, i think this is such a great song. The verses aren't much, but the chorus makes up for it easily. Even though the message of this song was heavily criticised by a notable artist on this list, I still think it has great lyrics with a sick beat.
60. Unconditionally - Katy Perry
The second most beautiful song on PRISM (after BTGOG). I liked it a lot when PRISM was released but after her EMA performance, I fell in love. It was such a beautiful performance and made me appreciate the songs lyrics and message more. One of her worst videos but I reckon Katy was right when she said this song would be a hit at weddings.
