When they know they can take advantage of it.
Yesterday...wow. Where should I start. Yesterday was my first (actually 2nd) time being the closing manager by myself. All the other managers left at 6 around. So after 6 it was just me in charge of the whole store. So....I'm sure the employees there knew that. And they know that I'm not this strict person. Anyways...around 7 a'clock, I notice this employee Tyler who keeps leaving the front. I'm getting pissed cause we are busy and he is no where to be seen. I noticed once that he left for like 10 minutes or so. So eventually he comes back up front and I for some reason go in the back. I walk in the storage room and guess what!
Someone smoke weed/pot in there. I'm smelling the air and I just got PISSED! The storage room was smokey and it reeked very badly. Obviously he had the door closed. And he is the only suspect who could have done it. We had like 3 other people at my work who smoke weed but they were all up front busy. So it had to be him. So I get the other pot heads and tell me what this smell is. They said its weed. So I call one of the managers who left at 6 because I didn't know what to do. I told her the story and she said to send him home. So I sent Tyler home at 8 instead of 9. I felt mean doing that since I"m never mean but you have to do your job. Since we actually didn't see Tyler "Do It" we assumed he was the only one who did it. Then around 9....he came back in the store...and he had the strongest pot smell on him. You could smell the stench like 20 feet away. I got pissed and called the other manager again and confirmed it was him.
Like seriously just because I'm the only manager and I'm not the "typical" manager like the other ones who manage almost every night (I rarely manage....) they think they can f***k with me. They think they can get away with it. I was just pissed. Who does that? Oh it's only Kevin managing tonight, let's smoke some weed in the back room. Ugh...I was so outraged. And the funny thing is...Tyler took a leave for like a month in a half because of personal issues and he just came back like this week. What a bad impression for coming back. Why would someone do that? You leave for almost two months and you come back finally and smoke weed in the storage room? I wonder if he'll get fired...it's up to the general manager.
I was just pissed. And one of my other employees was handing out wrong orders so that made my night more fun. People were calling in saying they didn't get this but they got this....ugh. What a fun night
If there is one thing I need to work on...it's being more strict. I'll be honest...I do let people get away with stuff, like stealing a pack of cookies or something. That's probably why people f***k with me because they know they can get away with it. They wouldn't dare smoke weed in the back if someone else managed.
