Well the remix didn't really do much. LMFAO still sold more. It was down to the airplay. The way they handled the remix/discounts was messy, but in the end no one is forced to buy it, therefore it was deserved..you have to look at all angles.

Well, Michael's record is still outstanding, because he got 5 conseuctive number ones without re-releasing or anything. People enjoyed his music, and that's why they reached number one (and I'm not a Michael fan).

But you're correct with the new generation... People that are so close to number one, they'll pull out a last minute attempt so they could reach #1 (S&M, Til The World Ends, LFN). I'm not a fan of re-releasing singles, reach number one, and still count as their #1 but it is what it is.
