To me, what I can see especially in ATRL.
The Gays
The Lesbians
Bi's
Transgender

I see this a lot.
As I grew up, I rarely saw lesbians get any negative treatment. It's like they're praised and put on a high pedestal, mainly by males. (this is from what I've seen; not trying to offend anybody.)
Then you have the Gays, and while they have their fair share of problems, most people tend to ignore them and move.
Bisexuals & Transgendered People are where things get complicated, as I've seen from our community, that they don't "believe" in this, and even trash talk it and look down upon the two.
It's sad that this kind of hate exists within our people.

Somebody saying they don't think being trans is a mental disorder doesn't meant they have negative thoughts towards mental disorders in general. Depression, schizophrenia, these are mental disorders. They are harmful to the person afflicted. Being trans isn't harmful.

Generally, I'd say it would work the same way it could with anyone else, but I can't speak for something I'm not.
If you're trans* and identify with a binary gender (Male / female), you can still be gay, straight, bisexual, etc. For example, if you are a trans* woman and are attracted to other women, you'd be considered a lesbian regardless if you're trans* or not.

|
Is like they blame straight people for not understanding being gay yet they do the same to the transgender group. We can't ask for acceptance when this community is also rotten on the inside.
@SpecialK It depends of their sexuality before knowing that they actually want to get a sex change.

Well yes, but that is ATRL
I should have specified society as a whole, but this was about LGBT
Someone else pointed out that Gays have more acceptance, and I think at the most that they are equal to Lesbians, Gays are just more out there and in the media about the acceptance than Lesbians are(or are seen)
I, like many others have said, just can't comprehend how there is so much hate to the Transgenders by the more "mainstream" and more "normal" gays and lesbians

Bisexuals don't get taken seriously at all a good percentage of the time.
People will come at them saying "it's just a phase, or you like the same sex more than the opposite sex".

Having a mental disorder doesn't mean that it's being harmful to the person affected. OCD is a disorder that is relatively harmless

I feel like I worded my last post so wrong, but I can't put my thoughts together and word it correctly, so forgive me if I said something a BIT out of order.

I added a bit to my previous post.
Yes, it can be harmful to a person. Various psychological problems end up stemming from this...disconnect

I actually think Bi people get more acceptance because they can be either gay or straight, so people will think "oh, they will realize they are straight at the end".

I'm bisexual, not lesbian but for the sake of educating the thread let me just say that being a girl who likes other girls isn't always easy breezy. I've had numerous negative experiences solely because of my sexual orientation in the past. Straight girls didn't want to be friends with me because they're afraid I'll be attracted to and hit on them, straight men say sexual things to me and tell me I turn them on (which I don't need or want to know), I've been called **** and purposely left out of things. And like I said I'm not even lesbian, I can only imagine how bad it would've been if I was. And then if I say I'm actually bi that's opens a whole other can of worms, like I'm lying for attention from men which is hilarious to me

I think lesbians also get it very harsh to if they do not pander to what straight men consider sexy. I have read and witnessed lesbians considered not attractive or are more butch. Not get that pedestal. I think lesbians are more accepted because in society girl on girl is seen as sexy well atleast there's a limit. Seeing as how quickly men are not in favor of it when they can't participate or ogle at with their own eyes. Plus not getting into how much women feel uncomfortable with women who are attracted to the same sex
I do agree with the hierarchy though of acceptance of members in the community. I feel not a lot of light or education is shed on bisexuals or transgendered people sadly. Hence all the gross stereotypes or attitudes toward them

Not even, IMO.
If you're a male, and you come out as bisexual, automatically the majority will think you're gay because you had come out as bisexual.
And of course they won't take you seriously at all, and they'll expect you to eventually pick a side, even if there's a specific sex that you find yourself more attractive to.

I disagree as a bisexual man when I admit to my sexuality. I get bashed as an over sexualized liar from both the straight and gay community. I can't tell how many times I've read comments where apparently men myself have a bad rep for either being confused or ****ty liars. Also many might not want to venture into a relationship with me because they feel they cannot satisfy me fully, or I will leave them for the opposite gender. Hell I hated my sexuality for so long because of this

Girly lesbians get more acceptance than less-girly lesbians because people think that they want to be a man and then put them in the T slot.

This. I'm Bisexual, and when I tell people that, they don't believe me. They say "but your dating a guy, your gay" or stuff like "pick a side and choose". I've even had my lesbian friends say they don't believe in bisexuality. I used to hate myself because of this stigma around me, and it did nothing but ruin me.
The insult was real.

True, but as I stated before, different experiences. The area I grew up in, if you were a Lesbian, hardly anything negative came your way. I was just expressing what happens around me; I'm not trying to apply that to every where else (as I know myself that isn't true). Most of the negative comments and rude and harsh things were done towards the Gays/Bi.
Do you see where I'm coming from?

This!
I'm not even out as Bi because people will assume I'm gay, and I've heard conversations with people I work with and family how they don't believe in Bisexuality

From my experience (I'm not bi), people say that bisexual guys just want to have to **** a lot and think that they will get on the right track when they grow up but god forbids if you only like guys, it is ****ed up and not fair imo.
